Posted January 17, 201114 yr would the children of a yellow face spangle hen and a green normal be fifty fifty or would they all be greens
January 17, 201114 yr I presume you mean a YF blue spangle? If so, I believe it would then depend on whether the green normal is split for blue. This is not a visual thing, it is something you would have to establish from the parents of the green normal (unless you've bred this bird previously). January 17, 201114 yr yes so would all the children be normal blues or greens? If the green normal is spilt blue then you would expect to get greens and blues - approx. 50% would be spangle and 50% normal. However, the cock could also be split for a sex-linked variety such as opaline or cinnamon, so you could end up with some of these if he is split for that variety. You would also get some YF birds as well.
January 17, 201114 yr Half would be spangle. If the green bird is split for blue, then you would 'basically' expect half the chicks to be blue and half green. Although technically what you would end up with is 25% blue, 25% yf blue, 25% green split yf, 25% green split blue (not counting spangle).
