what are the colours of the leg rings for the last five years

These are off the top of my head, without checking

05, purple

06,orange I think

07 green I think

08 black

09 red

10 blue

11 purple

are they coded (meaning is there writing on both rings.

Sometimes some breeders put on a split ring to identify a certain line

the colours off them are orange and red there are codes on them but they are difficult to read because he keeps moving around

Get the details off the rings or we cant help you.

why are they both on the same bird

why are they both on the same bird

Somebody may be using old rings to ID their birds and tell the breeder a bird is split for something. Makes it hard if you bought the bird because you dont know which ring applies to the bird. Look closely and see if either or both rings are split and that will tell you if they were put on as an adult.

If they are solid then its a 2009+ bird, it couldnt have been rung with a 09 ring in 2006 as they werent out then. 06 ring possibly to identify the bird/mutation/family or maybe a parents ring?

or if the breeders like me i just stuck two rings on a chick this current year and a o8 to fix splad legs on a young chick

if i keep it ill cut 08 off if not well i wont , lazy i know but i have its details so
