Posted January 4, 201114 yr I have one pair in my breeding cage... They have 8 eggs, they are completely unrelated (from two different breeders), hen was siiting on teh eggs all teh time but I have e problem First chick should hatch 30 december, and he hatched 31, but then - notthing happened.. Almost all eggs looks like this http://lh5.ggpht.com...12/DSCF5518.jpg So I thing it's a problem. Breeding cages are in the house. Birds have good diet, she is almost 2 years old, he's about 14 month old. This hen one time had chicks with other male and everything was okay, and she accept new male. Have you got an idea why eggs looks like this? And what happened to them? Edited January 4, 201114 yr by Zuzel
January 4, 201114 yr I would just wait yet. Too early to say if all the eggs are either clear or DIS.
January 5, 201114 yr Author Today hatched second chick! With 4 days delay... Is it possible? Or maybe two chicks died in the egg?
January 5, 201114 yr The eggs will hatch every 2 days, so if one egg hatched then another hatched 4 days later it is likely the egg that should have hatched 2 days later was clear/infertile. Dont do anything to the eggs yet, just give them time to hatch or not hatch.
January 6, 201114 yr Author Ofcourse - I left all eggs in the nest box. Strange thing is, that all eggs looks fertile
January 6, 201114 yr If it looks fertile and doesn't hatch it is likely to have become dead in shell (DIS). It happens at varying stages of development.
