Posted January 3, 201114 yr Hi, I was just wondering how to decrease the chance of fights between budgies. Any thoughts?
January 3, 201114 yr Think of what it is that they are fighting over. Give them multiple food sources and seed dishes. Do they need a bigger cage, meaning are their fights territorial? Are there an uneven number of birds, so they fight over pairings? If you have three birds, they will fight over who pairs with whom. Are the fighting over breeding positions/nest boxes? Do not colony breed - simple as that. What are they fighting over? What is your set up like?
January 3, 201114 yr Since you are colony breeding.......... http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?app=forums&module=forums§ion=findpost&pid=358961 that is the reason for those fights
January 3, 201114 yr Since you are colony breeding.......... http://forums.budgie...post&pid=358961 that is the reason for those fights I agree with Kaz... I was reading your past topics, and if that's what you're refering to... stop colony breeding... Simple!
January 3, 201114 yr The main reason for budgies fighting is overcrowding, there have been many successful breeders using colony breeding, But the flight must be large enough for the number of birds and plenty of spare breeding boxes available. Good Luck Clearwing
January 3, 201114 yr I totally agree with Clearwing, I kn ow a lot of people that colony breed and have great success. nothing wrong with it if you only want to breed budgies, but you do need heaps of room for the birds and more nest boxes than pairs because they like to fight over the nest boxes.
