Posted December 31, 201014 yr hi, I have 6 budgies and 2 of the hens are fighting over 1 breeding box. This has led to eggs being thrown out of the breeding box. I am not sure what to do but I need to stop this before more eggs get thrown out. Please help!
December 31, 201014 yr Stop colony breeding. OR put in many more nest boxes than hens and still expect that you will occasionally get squabbles over nest boxes.
December 31, 201014 yr I never understand why people find that this is a shock when they are breeding birds all in one cage or aviary. This is what happens in the wild. Survival of the Fittest is the term that Charles Darwin used to describe this phenomenon. Other people refer to it as natural selection. Everyone who comes on here and says "I always colony breed and I never have any trouble".... well, let's hope that stays true forever. Once you clean up one lot of blood, then you will see what it is really like.
December 31, 201014 yr I am sorry you are learning the hard way Georgie just like a lot of us did before you. You really need to read this http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=28294&hl=
