Posted December 30, 201014 yr Sorry guys, but I am really a novice and have little to no knowledge of budgies as much as I love them. Anyway I bought a nice pair today from a breeder and local club member. I bought what he told me were a male and female. He said he had them for about 6 months having got them as young chicks. the female's cere is the usual brown. The male's is blue around the nostril holes but the rest is brown. He has assured me that it is a male?? Any ideas on what's going on here?
December 30, 201014 yr If you have been sold a male budgie with brown on its cere it should have been FREE not sold and you most likely will not get chicks from him/ On the other hand females who arent in breeding condition have the brown flaky part of their cere peels off revealing white blue underneath. If you have been sold a definite male with brown cere .................never ever go back to that breeder again as he has sold you a DUD and he knows it
December 31, 201014 yr pictures would be great to judge better, or tell us the colour of the 'blue' as Kaz states pale blue is normal for a hen out of condition but dark blue WITH brown means the male isn't good for breeding. Edited December 31, 201014 yr by *Nerwen*
