How old do babies have to be before you can ring them?

I have just rung my first baby and the ring was at the highest point on the ring seperator with my holding it there!

Dumpy is just over a week old!

 

my breeder rings his at 7 days old. otherwise he says they are harder to get on or they are too big and drop off.

That explains it because he is 10 days old

that sound daft (Laughing out loud) 3 days over seven and he is already to big

it all depends on the size of the chicks mine range from 6 days to 10 days

If too late, What for them to fledge and you can use a split ring.

 

I ring my Aviary Birds when I get them. Just so I can track the young.
