Coloured Calcium/pedi Perches.

Featured Replies

Does anyone find the brightly coloured calcium/pedi perches stain or colour their budgies feathers? My budgie has white feathers around his face but they've turned a pinkish colour. He's not sick so the only thing i can think of is his bright pink perch that he loves to rub his face and beak over!

I do not like the bright colours and so don't use them. Why stain them those colours? What good does it do? It does discolour the feathers.

i had a pink one, and my yellow face blue rubbed his face on it and ended up with a peach coloured face

ha i guess that makes him a peach face :P

i have had green ones and red ones, blue ones and yellow ones. Yes, they rub their head on it, and yes they get stains, but i do not see any problem with it.

I don't have a problem with them, obviously i wouldn't use them if i did, i was just wondering if it was the source of the discoloured feathers.

Thanks for all your replies, i gave him a bath and problem solved!!!

I used a pink one in the kindy cage, which becomes my show bird holding cage when I am getting ready for a show (cause the babies are all out by then) and I quickly remembered to take it out so I didnt take pink birds to show! lol
