Posted November 26, 201014 yr Hi, I am buying 2 budgies for my kids for Christmas. I am looking for a suitable cage. Can someone please tell me if this cage is big enough. It is 57cm(W) x 48cm(D)x 76cm(H). Here is the link: http://www.gtmall.com.au/open-roof-bird-aviary-cage-jk21.html If this is not suitable can someone please suggest a cage that is. I need something on a stand. Thanks, Tash
November 26, 201014 yr Hi Tash! Id say that is a pretty perfect cage for 2 budgies!! looks like a good one =] and what a cool present for christmas a budgie! thats what i got last year, and i have loved them ever since. do they get to pick one each, or are you buying them and making it a surprise?? November 26, 201014 yr Author Hi Alpaca-boy, Thanks for the reply. I was hoping that cage would be suitable. The pet shop showed me a smaller one and said it would be fine but I thought it was too small. Some of the cages at the pet shop looked too small for one bird. My kids won't be picking the birds because they will be from Santa. My daughter has been asking for a bird. She is telling everyone that if she is a good girl Santa will bring her a blue budgie and he will bring her brother a yellow budgie. So she thinks she is getting one but doesn't know for sure. She will be so excited when she sees the birds on Christmas morning. My son is too young to understand but we are still going to get him one. Luckily our neighbour has offered to look after them until Christmas Eve when the kids are in bed. Tash
November 26, 201014 yr Hey Tash, Kaz posted a really informative post on cages here: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=17858 According to that it's not a bad cage, length is more important than height, and you should probably set your perches from front to back and not from side to side as pictured. Good luck! Matt

November 27, 201014 yr Author Matt, thanks for the link. There was some great info about cages in that post. Alpaca-boy, I know what you mean about Santa. It all changes when you find out Santa isn’t real. But it gets exciting again when you have young kids who understand Christmas and believe in Santa. Well it has for me anyway!! Maybe I’m just a big kid!
November 27, 201014 yr Veyr good cage! Welcome to the forums by the way! May I ask where you are getting the birds from? I would suggest getting them form a breeder at a young age, so that the birds are tameable and healthy. No petshops
November 27, 201014 yr Author Hi Squeak_Crumble, I'm not sure where I am getting them from at the moment. That was going to be my next question.... Does anyone know any breeders on the NSW Central Coast? I will post a message in the 'Wanted to Buy' forum. Tash
