Posted November 21, 201014 yr Yesterday I was out picking up a few things and the price of corn was such I decided to get a few cobs for the birds and one for me for lunch today whilst I watch Landline. Now that I decided to do this I had to go out make some cob hangers. Hunting around I finally found the coat hangers I knew I had. Took longer to find them than to make the cob hangers. Here are a couple of pics of them in action. These birds never having seen them before took fright when placed in the flights. There was this big no-go zone around the hanger for a few hours till some got game.
November 21, 201014 yr My birds love corn too, it never lasts long and they pick at it till the cob is un-recognisable. Great holder too, I might have to borrow that idea...
November 21, 201014 yr Author It is easy to make, here is is the recipe: Take 1 coat hanger and you will need to cut a 17cm section out of the bottom in the middle. The side need to be bent down a bit to allow room for birds to sit on top of cob. Put cob on first if it makes it easier for you to do. The hook needs to be closed up more so it stays on the perch. Please be careful when pushing the cobs onto the wire. Don't want anybody sticking the wire through their hands. Leave the cobs on when they are dry and they will play with them. Just replace the cob when ever you feel like it.
November 24, 201014 yr If you were to eat yours off the hanger, that would leave two hands free to do other things. You know how busy you are Might be a really good idea

December 11, 201014 yr Mine would kill for corn also. I just cut it into 3 pieces and put into a hanging bowl I have in flight and stand back. It's the only thing they don't toss onto the ground out of it. It never last's long. When they get every last kernal off, then they throw it down and play with dried cob pieces very funny to watch them.
