Posted November 3, 201014 yr The first bird on the right has a big build. She is partly splay-legged, so she has much difficulty mating & breeding. She acts like a cock waving her head & even feeding male budgie. But she also shows normal female behaviors such as scratching male birds or getting fed. Though splayed, with a limp, she walks straight & sideways on the perch quite well. I heard big females show low reproduction. Is that true? If so, why is that? Which is more important reason, partly splay-legged or big body size?

Hans you could try placing two perches side by side about 3cm or a bit more than an inch apart, that would allow the hen to lay on the perch during mating. This has often worked for me. November 19, 201014 yr Lovely birds Hans, just wondering if being splayed would have any affect on her laying eggs if her hip isn't right? Maybe someone would know. Please add future posts to tell us how she went. cheers:P
