Quarantine Question

just a quick question regarding quarantine i got a pair of budgies from john payne a few weeks ago and next week will be getting another pair from him,as both pairs come from the same place do i need to quarantine the new pair when i get them or can they go straight in the aviary with the first pair i got? other than the first pair there are no other budgies in the aviary as yet but i do have 3 others from another breeder in quarantine but they will be there for another 19 days as i like to quarantine for at least 30 days

Same breeder birds going in with same breeder birds and no others will be fine. Just remember though stress of catching and moving can bring out illnesses that are hidden.

yeah thats what i was worried about kaz so i might quarantine them for a couple of weeks just to avoid problems

I would think if you buy them at separate times they should always be quarantined only if you bought them together from the same place. If I bought 1 budgie from a local pet shop and then another 1 from the same shop 2 weeks later I would quarantine them from each other.

Yeah, but Elly a pet shop bird is very different from one from a breeder. A pet shop cant tell you much of the history of the bird. Also pet shops get their birds from all sorts of places and just throw them together, in the same display cage. Getting a bird from a breeder and then a week later getting another one from the same breeder, the birds have lived in the same aviary. All your doing is putting them back together, in much the same way as when you take a breeding pair out into breeding boxes. Then reintroduce them back to the flock when the babies have fledged.
