I know, people are silly :P

But I've set myself a limit as to how much I'm gonna pay for it. I'll come in with 20 secs to go and put that in (and if its more then aww well :) )

I do the 20 seconds to go sniper bid too Maddy. Good luck :)

Looks like a good one too.

I will leave it for you.

Thanks humphrey...i was a little worried that by advertising the aviary on here someone else would make a jump for it

Its exciting JB...its so close to finishing.

I went and had an inspection today....to make sure I wasn't getting ripped off if I pay a load for it (its happened before). Its in really good nick, just needs a clean. The screws holding it together are a bit rusted...but they're cheap as chips

Can anyone suggest what I would do with the pointy end of the screws that hold it together. Do budgies know sharp?

hey maddy!

goodluck with your bidding! hope you get it.

it looks pretty damn good for $200 well i would i think so anyway, considering you were quoted over $2000 for a built aviary

bargain!

only 20 hours left!!! make sure you get it at the end as im sure your budgies will love it

about the screws... i dont think they will chew the screws they dont look very appetising

but you could file the sharp and with a metal filer

or stick something soft around them? how big are they maybe you could use foam? lol

good luck maddy

alpaca boy! ;):P

Unfortunately, alpaca-boy, anything soft you could put around them would be quickly chewed off by the budgies. Filing them might work, but is it possible to insert the screws from the other direction, so that the sharp parts are on the outside? I guess that would depend on being able to reach the screwdriver into the space available. And then, you would have to be careful not to scratch YOURSELF on the sharp parts. (But then you could use Alpaca-Boy's idea of foam or something, as long as YOU aren't planning to chew it off! )

Perhaps replacing the screws with nuts and bolts would be an option?

I'm not sure Finnie...after all foam does look pretty appetising :P

If I can get a screwdriver on the inside then I will screw them the other way :D I don't think I'll be that close to the corners that I will hurt myself. But I can always cover them on the outside, i just didn't want the budgies to chew adn die from something that was trying to keep them safe :P

Depending on where the screws are depends on if a budgie can get to them or not. They are more likely to chew at something they can get to by walking along a perch and seeing it there and having a nibble.

Most shed are assembled by pop rivets. These pose no issues.

Worry about it when you get it and then brainstorm all you need to in order to make it safe.

Good news, I won :D

I think $610 is a steal, especially for the size and condition.

It is assembled via screws, not pop rivets...it was part of the reason I went to do an inspection on it as I'm getting my father to help me disassemble it. I was told pop rivets are great for putting it up...not so great for pulling it down.

So all i need to do now is get it to my place. I've already done a couple of brainstorms and my solution is to hire a car trailer for a few hours and get my grandfather to tow it. Its all coming together now :D

wooh congratulations!

pity it didnt stay at $211, but 600 is still good, it is a large aviary

cant wait to see your budgies in it, you will have to put up some pictures when they are accomodated!

how is your pairing going? have you started breeding yet?

Thanks everybody :D

When you've been around ebay a while...you don't expect the prices to stay low for long. This one, someone else tried to sniper it as well (put in a high bid at the last second) however, my bid was higher and with less time left, so he couldn't fight back. I was willing to pay around $750 for that aviary, so thats what I put in at 20 seconds to go.

I havn't started breeding yet alpaca boy...seems like I just missed the right condition :) But I will be ready for them
