Posted October 21, 201014 yr I was wondering if anyone could tell me if these birds are in breeding condition or not...particularly with my recessive pied cock I was also lucky enough to get a picture of raspuschia (the last one) while she was stretching her wings. You can see the feather loss underneath. Does anyone have any opinions on that? Thanks in advance
October 21, 201014 yr The first hen looks like she's at the back end of being in condition and the last hen looks like she's gone out of condition. Hard to tell with the first cock bird and no idea with the recessive pied cock. Although, I'm only a relative novice though so don't quote me.
October 21, 201014 yr Author I'd really like to know how to tell recessive pied cocks. They are like the oddity with their cere colours lol I kind of figured the first female was out...but i wanted to be sure
October 21, 201014 yr Second recessive pied cock looks like a hen to me. Edited October 21, 201014 yr by KAZ
October 21, 201014 yr Author Really I have posted Bulas' picture so many times on here and was told he was male XD Also I had the flash on while i was taking these, as my natural light had disappeared behind the house This is a natural light one that was taken in May, and has not really changed since (maybe a few subtle shades but nothing drastic) Really, i would just like to know how you tell with a recessive pied cock
October 21, 201014 yr It was the photo then. A female recessive not in breeding condition will have a whitish cere. That photo looked white. A males cere stays pink. A females cere goes brown like any other female budgie when they are past six months or when in breeding condition.
October 21, 201014 yr Author Right, so a males stays pink even in breeding condition? cool Also Kaz what would be your opinion on Raspuschias' lack of feather under her wing (around her neck too, little baldy lol)
October 21, 201014 yr Also Kaz what would be your opinion on Raspuschias' lack of feather under her wing (around her neck too, little baldy lol) she is plucking herself. Check all birds for signs of feather mites. If none she is stressed maybe. NO Nestboxes right now.......none of these guys are right for breeding just yet. Edited October 21, 201014 yr by KAZ
October 21, 201014 yr Author Okie Dokie Thanks Kaz The recessive hen came from the same aviary as the blue cock and blue recessive hen. No other bird in the aviary (and in the other two joined to hers) had this problem. The owners were absolutely baffled They treated all of the birds they gave me with ivermectin before i left. She's a green ringer so could it be because of age? Edited October 21, 201014 yr by KAZ
