Posted October 19, 201014 yr I have a pair with 4 chicks ranging in age from 17 days - 9 days old. The birds are in a room which gets used by my kids to play/watch TV etc., but is pretty quiet in there during weekdays. I have recently changed my avairy so I have an area sectioned off for my breeding cabinets (no other birds in this area). My cousin is arriving in 8 days to stay with us for a couple of weeks and we were going to put him up in the room the birds are in. Between the parents and the chicks, they are quite noisy now! I'm wondering if I should move the birds into the new section in the avairy or whether this will upset them too much. So far I have had no beahvioural issues and the parents seem to be doing a great job raising the chicks. Everything is going really well, but I'm wondering if I'll upset the apple cart if I move them. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Edited October 19, 201014 yr by The Black Doctor

October 19, 201014 yr Author LOL - thanks GB. I might have to get my kids to share a room while my cousin's here so he can sleep in one of their rooms or, as you said, he'll have to deal with it!!
October 20, 201014 yr If you are just moving a breeding cage to another location you should be okay to do that. If you are taking them out of the cage and boxes then NO it wouldnt work out. Moving a breeding cage generally is an okay thing to do. Edited October 20, 201014 yr by KAZ
October 20, 201014 yr Author Thanks Kaz - I'm only relocating the cage to a different spot, not taking them out or changing nest boxes.
October 20, 201014 yr that is true but ive done it many times no probbs but as this is your first pair and chicks i would leave be if mum decides to not feed or leave nest from being moved you have no pairs to take babys he can deal with it
October 20, 201014 yr I moved house with a breeding cage, Mum, Dad and chicks/eggs (can't remember what stage they were at). They couldn't stay where they were as they needed regular checking so had to come with me. I had no problems. The choice is yours though...
October 20, 201014 yr I move breeding cages from one spot to another all the time. I also moved a whole aviary of breeding budgies from a house before this one to this house. You will have no trouble if you move this breeding cage to another location I am sure of that. Do it quickly and cover the cage as you move it if you like, but all will be okay
