How's Dusty doing Kaz?

Dusty is doing pretty well right now. Happiest in the cage inside the aviary with aviary bird sounds and occasional visits to the front of cage. Dusty waddles around the cage and runs away when sees me coming so that means Dusty can see me 12 feet away :D

Approx 17 weeks old.

thats preety good sight he has unless hes hearing is extended like blind people (heightened i should say )

Nearly 19 weeks old and Dusty is still doing well. Bad tempered when picked up and flaps its wings, jumps up and down and runs away LOL :)

He looks wonderful Kaz. I noticed his cere is still pink. Do you have any theories why it hasn't changed colour yet?

Dont worry Rach.............this baby had me going for awhile. One of those hard to tell ambiguous ceres. Too much white on the cere for it not to be female :)

She is going good Kaz. Can't say she is pretty but cute in a way. Which we good have some of that feather on our good birds it would be wow.

She's such a doll! So cute! I just want to pet her! <3

Forum member Libby came over the other day and saw Dusty. Lib asked if Dusty felt light in bodyweight. We lifted her up and checked her for bodyweight and she is every bit as heavy as any full sized show budgie I have right now, so thats a good sign so far.

Wow! She seems to be doing really well for a FD. She is quite beautiful I think. Interesting how the blue cheek patches are down the feathers on her face....Im not explaining that right, but I hope you know what I mean lol.

My feather duster I had last year was a thin as, the keel bone was razer sharp. But then he died at 8 weeks. So I guess some make it and some don't.

I didn't breed any this year, happy about that, Oh there was one that I thought might of been but died before I could make my mind up and he was nearly 5 weeks old. But had the look.

Dusty is a darling. I would love to cuddle her. It is a pity she does not really like that. You are doing brilliantly with her, Kaz. Fancy her weighing that much!

She doesnt mind a cuddle once you have caught her but she runs away when she sees you coming.

Dusty passed away today. Was looking well and all signs good. Only thing I noticed about DUSTY was rapid breathing most of the time. no respiratory issues evident at all, just seemed to freak out a bit when handled....rapid heart rates and breathing.

RIP dusty.........aged 22 weeks. :(
