Cere Colour Not Changing?

Featured Replies

Chubba Chubs is eight months old exactly but his cere colour is still pinky-purple. His female siblings have dark brown ceres and have had them for months. Normal?

Chubba Chubs is a normal, right? Not recessive pied? I would think he would have a blue cere by now, unless he was one of the mutations that keep pink/purple ceres. I know that ino, dark eyed clear and rec. pied fall in that category, but I don't know what else does.

Sorry I'm not much help.

Yes, he's normal light green ( green tail though ). Thanks.

Any chance this has to do with his mutation? Shows a pink cere like rec. pied cock. Some birds are late bloomers also :)

I wouldnt worry too much at this stage, hormones are at play and the cere will colour up soon enough.

agree with Kaz - ceres can change at different times for each bird. give it some more time

Hi ratzyyy

well i have the same concern as mortimer is now 10 months old and his cere is still pinky purple ??

and banjo is only 5 months and his cere is already a perfect blue?

mortimer is a dominant pied so i dont know why his cere hsant changeed yet?

PS: wow he still has the green tail, it would be great if it was a new variety
