Thank you Sunnie ;) I was hoping violet but I need a good cobalt.

can get better picture with real day light rach

please before i decide its cobalt want to make sure shes not a sky violet

as they can look like cobalt

I'd say cobalt, but a clear picture of the tail without flash would be good.

well im not going to guess as in first picture the wings look very aqua sugesting sky violet

yet with out a propper tail shot that could be just sun and angle of shot

can you get someone to hold out a wing open while you take a picture

also tail shot need to see tail feathers the 4 shorter ones included

one way to find out pair her to a cobalt bird or a visual violet bird the chick result of these matings would tell you

I am not attempting this.///////

Why ?

I think the light conditions for these photos is all over the place.

New photos natural light would be good :hi:

By natural light, do you mean direct sunlight, no cage? (sorry)

looking plain cobalt really need to see tail

:) but pairing to cobalt still good idea dark factor birds hard to get breeding own is best way try make him normal cobalt

does apear to be bit aqua going off their but still the tail is part of the recognition in sky violet

tail in wings combined

Based on photos so far I am going with plain Cobalt. One of the deciding factors is if the body colour goes right to the end of the feather. In dark fator birds the blue or green colour does not go right to the endge of the feather. This bird shows that trait but it is a very good coloured Cobalt. Don't forget there are good and bad examples of all varieties and colours.

Thank you very much RIP and GB :( That's a very interesting fact about colour. I'm happy she's cobalt, I can start breeding some dark factor normals.
