Posted October 7, 201014 yr Today I cleared my aviary out, and I paired some of my Texas Clearbody's up. I seperated all inos, clearbodies and normals. I then juggled different birds around in different show cages. In the end I decided on pair 5 and pair 7 . Just wondering if you guys thought this was the best choice, and if you guys see any pairing's I have missed that may have potential I have all of these noted down to try next season, or hopefully end of this round. Because I have another two cabinets to fill, I would like you guys to help me choose the other two pairs that have the most potential. I like pair 6 or pair 9, obviously not at the same time Would be great if all of you guys could help me out Now that I think about it, I wouldn't mind seeing "Cock A" from pair 5 with the violet opaline clearbody. I may need to add a picture of that... If any one wants mor epcitures just ask Pair 1: Grey Cock X Grey-Green Hen Pair 2:Grey Cock X Albino Pair 3:TCB Grey Cock X Albino Pair 4: Lutino hen X Grey TCB Cock Pair 5: Lutino Hen to Cock A (right) or Cock B (left) Same cocks as above, cock A on right and Cock B on left. Pair 6: TCB Opaline Violet X Sky Blue Cock ( I am hoping to try this soon, I need to make sure I have lots of nests availible to foster though, hen is a chick killer) Pair 7: Sky Cock X Grey-Green TCB Pair 8: Grey Green Hen X TCB Opaline Grey-Green Pair 9: Grey Green Hen X Sky Cock ( another pair I quite like) Also here is a pair of recessives I am trying, out, I just felt like sharing Cock is split. October 7, 201014 yr These are just my ideas from what I get from the pictures. I would put the Albino hen from Pr 2 with the grey tcb from Pr 4. Experts may correct me, but I thought the idea of putting ino to tcb was to bring clear the colour, so I would be putting white with grey, not yellow. I would put the Lut hen from Pr 5 with cock A. I just like him better for her (how's that for expert!) lol I would put the TCB violet hen from Pr 6 with the sky cock from Pr 7. In these pictures, he looks longer and bigger than the one you have her paired with, so would add to or hold her size. I think the other cock will bring her down. I would then put the Lut hen from Pr 4 with cock B. This is just what jumped out at me and I am happy to be criticised with someone who has more technical and more experienced views, but I'm not necessarily happy to be questioned about my choices, because most of it comes from gut feeling with me lol
October 7, 201014 yr id leave the grey with the albino hes not that big but hes got a nice head i would never pair the grey x grey green first picture as both sitting short and squashing head into body both of them doing it so in that picture anyway id pair the clearbody hen with cock a clearbody cock and lute to clearbody b and grey green hen to clearbody grey the violet clearbody to sky blue boy and rec pair is nice thats me but this is pictures so may be different at my own place

There is a picture of them in pair 4 I would put the Lut hen from Pr 5 with cock A. I just like him better for her (how's that for expert!) lol Yep, I was thinking him also. He is bigger then her, and because she sit's quite upright, he lies down a bit more then cock B and is chunkier in the chest. I would put the TCB violet hen from Pr 6 with the sky cock from Pr 7. In these pictures, he looks longer and bigger than the one you have her paired with, so would add to or hold her size. I think the other cock will bring her down. That is actually the same cock bird, but I caught him at a bad angle in pair 6 with her. I was quite liking that pair, I am thinking she will go down as another pair this round. I would then put the Lut hen from Pr 4 with cock B. This is just what jumped out at me and I am happy to be criticised with someone who has more technical and more experienced views, but I'm not necessarily happy to be questioned about my choices, because most of it comes from gut feeling with me lol Thankyou Sunnie! I forgot to mention, all of these birds are the same birds. So I only have one lutino hen, one grey cock etc. So there are quite a few double ups. The only birds I have that are the same colour are the opaline. light green cock birds (A and I go with gut feeling also id leave the grey with the albino hes not that big but hes got a nice head He does, He can also do with a little less suffusion in him, hopefully she will bring a bit out. i would never pair the grey x grey green first picture as both sitting short and squashing head into body both of them doing it so in that picture anyway The grey green is a shorter then him, you can see in the second picture of him that he is showing upwards a bit more, but yes agreed they are shorter birds. id pair the clearbody hen with cock a clearbody cock and lute to clearbody b and grey green hen to clearbody grey the violet clearbody to sky blue boy and rec pair is nice Thanks, I can't wait for the chicks! thats me but this is pictures so may be different at my own place Yes, these are only pictures, which make it alot more difficult! Thanks guys for your input, I am sure some people will be able to learn from this topic, I know I will! So far I have 4 cabinets to fill. Pair 5: Lutino X Cock A Pair 6: Sky Cock X Violet TCB Hen And not sure but I am thinking. Pair 3: Albino X TCB Grey? Pair 7 Hen with Cock B? That is what I have tried to summarise from you guys posts

October 7, 201014 yr Author That is true, they do. I also like that pairing because my birds are quite fine feathered, and in the "ideal" budgerigar, isn't the feathering meant to be "buffer"?

October 8, 201014 yr Author I find most of my birds are actually finer feathered, but I heard some weird things with feathering, like putting two buff birds gets you fine feathered birds?
