Posted October 6, 201014 yr My hen died last night i have no idea as to why..?? Anyone have any ideas?? I walked into my small breeding room to feed my pair and came face to face with the white hen on the floor of the breeding cage she was between clutches. The male bird was distraught i have not put him back with the other birds incase some quarantine is required? i am really disappointed because she was my only hen of breeding age..

Could you explain the symptons at all? Was she looked fluffed up, was she skinny, any discharge or blood from mouth? We need more information
October 6, 201014 yr Did you feel to see if she had an egg down below ? Did she have a poopy bottom ? Was she thin ?
October 6, 201014 yr Sorry you have lost your hen Jack, it's hard to know "after the event" what may have caused it. Was she a very old hen? Not that that matters I lost a 2 yr old after a few squarks she died on the floor out of the blue. It's worse not knowing I think, if they were sick you have something to work on.
October 8, 201014 yr Author Yer I don’t really know what to say she just was normal I guess and cold. That is all she hadn’t been attacked by mice or anything.. Should I put her partner with the other birds or bring him inside I don’t like them being alone in a cage unless necessary, as they seem like suck social animals from what I can gather from having budgies for a short period of time.
