Posted October 1, 201014 yr I want to put a sort of bird-bath fountain thing in the new aviary I'm getting. So I'm wondering if something like this would be alright? Is something made out of cast-iron safe for the birds to chew on? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/CAST-IRON-HOMESTEAD...=item415322514a Thanks for any help.
October 1, 201014 yr Its small.................no more water in that than a small dish. $40 by the time they post it. I am sure you could find something where you live. As far as safe goes...............they usually are coated or treated with something. You need to find that out.
October 1, 201014 yr Author Mkay, so what material should it be made of? I just need to know what something like that could be made of or coated with that is dangerous and what is not?
October 1, 201014 yr You can get bird baths from cheap as chips for $30. They are bird approved and safe
October 1, 201014 yr I have a plastic bird bath I use for a seed dish. In summer I put the trays that go under plants on the floor of the aviary with an inch of water in them for the birds to splash in. I only leave these in there for a day as they get dirty. I also use pot trays for veges for the birds, as well as for the occassional treat of grey sunflower seeds
