I have a new baby budgie and are wondering if it is a boy or a girl?

 

 

Hen. I say this because of the all over paleness of the cere and also because I can see two white rings around the nostrils.

Well gosh, you two! I was all set to say "Boy, definitely" until I scrolled down and saw your answers!

 

I think the paleness is from the bright light of the windows, and other wise, it seems like an even all over blue. (And yes, it is lighter around the nostrils, but almost all budgies are lighter around the nostrils.)

Too pale for me to say boy and going that whitish tone..... that's why I say girl. But happy for other opinions - time will tell in the end anyway.

I think male BUT it could be my computer lighting. Time will tell. Why people say that you can tell sex just by rings around nostrils I don't know. It is the overall colour I am told.

When I first saw the pictures I thought hen with how pale the whiteish blue was, but coming onto a different computer - it shows more purple and blue around the cere.

 

I say wait a bit longer until it matures more and then guess again :rofl:

The other question is what would you classify the colouring as?

opaline sky blue. Maybe violet sky.
