Posted September 18, 201014 yr Couldn't find anything about them by doing a search -- just wondering if anyone on here uses or has used heated perches? We're thinking about getting one for when the weather gets colder and would appreciate advice. Thanks!
September 18, 201014 yr Don't know nothing about them and quite frankly I'm scratching my head as to find a plausable reason for having one.

September 18, 201014 yr Author Hah! Didn't realize it would be such a crazy question! Here's an example of a heated / thermo perch. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod...fm?pcatid=10899 I guess the idea is to give the birds a place to warm up if they want to. The reviews seem to indicate that a lot of birds really like them. It does make sense to me along the lines of providing warmth for a sick budgie. My husband found this actually, I think he's worried about our little budgie getting too cold during the winter. (Also, he's always wanted heated floors, so maybe he's just trying to pamper Bogie like he'd like to be pampered.)
September 19, 201014 yr Well, Wendymoon, it looks a bit cheaper than a heated towel rail. Maybe hubby could get one for his bathroom. I really don't know about a heated perch. I believe that budgies regulate their temperature through their feet. I would rather see a heated shelf. I would put a piece of carpet tile on it and the birds could hunker down on that if they were cold. My cocktiels cuddle in all over me in the winter. I think they regard me as a warm, soft, undulating shelf. lol. They might settle for an artificially heated shelf which they could sit on all night.
