Posted September 14, 201014 yr I have searched for tips on how to prevent birds from breeding and change thier cage around every week when I clean it and introduce new toys too. For the first few weeks Molly wouldn't let him near her, but now she is starting to preen him too. He has unsuccesfully tried to mount her a few times, this ending when she didn't agree to this and pushed him away. But know after watching them, shes starting to become friendly with him too. Its a real love hate relationship between them, one moment shes biting his feet the next shes getting all cozy. I don't want them to breed as Molly can't fly and her feet are turned slightly (possibly rickets, lack of calcium when she was a baby). Is there anything else I can do to stop them??? I have never put a nesting box in, theres bars on the floor of the cage so they couldn't get at any deal nesting matterial anyway and there cage is changed around weekly and I introduce new toys (Molly is a scaredy cat, and takes a few days to adject to new toys)
September 14, 201014 yr In MOST cases mating ( if it occurs ) does not lead to eggs unless there is a place to lay them. If you make sure there isnt a place to lay them then IGNORE any mating you see as it wont mean much Mating does not automatically mean eggs.
