Posted September 13, 201014 yr Hi I have a Lacewing Hen that has bonded with a Spangle cock she's been a bit of a loner in the avairy,so i was pleased she found a friend . Am i correct that this is not an ideal match up re for showing birds. thanks Libby.
September 13, 201014 yr Yeah not a good match for showbirds at all..........and cocks can be split for cinnamon and or opaline.
September 13, 201014 yr but in saying that lib i just breed the most fantastic bird from that pairing of genetics and got a lovley normal grey great show features just got to not put him near my lacewings later or my binos will use for spangle breeding and my cinnamons
September 13, 201014 yr Author Thanks GB, so if i use any chicks in my Spangle line only i would be okay? she's the only Lacewing i have and at this stage i'm not going down that path, just sticking with Spangles and maybe Dom Pieds. Libby.
September 13, 201014 yr If you have had problems with this hen binding with a cock then I would suggest that if she has now found one stick to it. As far as the show bench goes the young produced from that pairing will either be Spangle or Normals anyway. If the cock is split for Opaline and/or Cinnamon this will not matter. Lacewings are Cinnamon Inos and Opaline is an allowable combination so again it doesn't matter. All the cocks from this pairing though will all be split for Lacewing.
