I got my new budgie about two and half weeks ago I posted a picture of her and you all helped to say it was probably a hen. She is about 8-9 weeks old parent raised. I have been working with her several times a day putting my hand in cage with food which she will take from me. She will step up reluctantly stay for a minute then fly all over the cage like she is scared to death and giving me a scolding noise. I don't think I am making much progress. Input please. The last bird I had was a handfed cockatiel. I really want to make a pet out of this bird. Thanks in advance. This an amazing site.

Hi Toni.....

It all takes time unfortunatly....and at the end of the day a lot depends on the individual birds personality...

She is still really young so one day at a time...If her wings are clipped I would get her out of the cage and constantly have her with me for a while, just holding her gently. going about your daily stuff...............

That's what I do...just a suggestion.... :(

Her wings were clipped when I got her, but she flies really well. I have not tried to take her out because of her flying ability and I have a small dog. I probably need to take her and have her wings clipped again, by the bird shop. She was clipped by the lady that I bought her from. Thanks!
