No actually the one I got was zinc colour and on special for $53.00 the colour ones $98.00 and the hard plastic sky light ones $98.00, the are smaller than the tin ones too but heavier.

I kinda wished I had of got the sky light one now because I need all the extra light i can get in there.

Sad Greg and I can't put the shed up on our own, we had help lined up but he had to pull out last night. I asked my brothers but one is to sick and the others are to busy or just won't. My sons are to far away. Not fair. looks like the shed is going to be laying around for ages now. Half is still leaning against the shed and the other half is laying on the cement slab.

I have a clear sheet ( opal white ) on my birdroom roof. In summer I put a lattice panel on top of it. The lattice panel is covered with shade cloth. On for summer and off for winter. Just sits up there

and open ides and frount got to 35 today everything open even door

i have ventilation through roof and shade cloth on sky light

and swinging shade cloth doors for real hot sunny days

and today i had

a dead chick

it was from heat i could see

poor thing so now im going to put my big shade saiol up before hot really gets here and my pop out bit also

and im re thinking useing the breeding side as a baby flight and just not breeding till i can devise a plan of action to have a proper located place for this

so far the back fence has been my best breeding space but thats only from September on to November so one round

but i wouldnt risk my show birds out their like that so im really stuck for place to breed

I am hoping the extra hight helps Gb, normal garden sheds are only between 165 and 180cm high at wall, with the gable peak mostly 207cm max but my shed is 210cm at wall and 254cm at gable peak and the wirly bird should suck out some of the heat hopefully.

I am using insul bats for the walls and 12mm melimine for the walls so that should keep some heat out and the ceiling is having insul foam board and and probably the same wood as the walls but maybe I might use plyboard because it is lighter.

The window is about 70cm long and about 60 cm high it should let in plenty of light besides the door. I am making a wire door too. And I am thinking of cutting a long window across the back about nearly the length of the shed and about 30 to 40 cm deep for extra light but I am trying to figure out how I can do it so it opens for air also.

 

I will check tomorrow to see how hot it gets as a steel shed only.

mine is 210 splat

i lost chicks yesterday two them from heat

it wont be my breeding room again

that was as i didnt get home to open before 12 pm

still with all open its 30 in their today

if i could do mine again id have thin window all sides with wire mouse mesh and for winter a drop down peaice of plastic stuff the see through stuff you get i forget its name with few air holes drilled along it so still air in their

Today I was in the shed and it was very cool with the door closed and with the door open. There is no window yet. I think the whirly bird is doing it's job.

It was a very hot day too.

But yes GB when the window goes in I am planing on another long window

It is surprising how big the shed is being 30cm higher than a normal garden shed, it makes it look so much bigger. Happy as larry

I am planing on another long window

Do what I did in my flights..............go to a salvage yard and buy an aluminium sliding window of the size you want and rig up framing and fit it. Sliding windows are weather proof and you fit aviary mesh to one side of it.

 

Some caravan windows also work.

Thanks Dustin, Hey Kaz I have bought one aluminium sliding window from the salvage place it is about 90cm wide and 50cm high I think ill need to measure it again because when I put in next to the shed today it seem to take up heaps more space than I planed.

I guess it would of been a bathroom window in its past life but anyway I only want something about 30cm high tops and as wide as I can get it but I really don't think there is any window out there like that second hand anyway, so that is why I am thinking of making one, but I will keep looking though.

I am going to Shepp Wednesday to check Clearwings birds so I will go to the salvage yards and have a look. But I really don't know where to find caravan windows though. I only want second hand because new ones would be to expensive i think.

I am going to pick up my laundry sink tomorrow I think, I have a second hand one that has been given to me BUT I have my eye on a new one that is skinny, the same depth as any other but half the size in width which would suit me for the room but it is at Bunnings for $169.00 and the one June has for me is free so I will check it out tomorrow and see what I think.

I am think of making a screen door out of aluminium 25cm square tubing using those connecter joints but at the same time I am going to how much security doors are at the salvage places too because the y may turn ot cheaper but have to work out if it is possable to cut them down to fit my door way.

Re doors. I bought some lightweight flyscreen doors for my previous aviary and I just put aviary mesh on them for the security doors.

Yes Kaz Greg made one from my baby aviary into my breeding room, He got it from th tip the guy there recyles stuuf there so Greg got it for nothing and came home made it shorter and put bird wire on it. Great door.

I will probably get a door like that but I would prefer security one becaus ethey look better. If I made it the way I have planed it will look good to but the Al tubing is not really cheap. So I guess I will probably go the cheapest way out but at the same time it must look good, You know this is my dream bird room Exactly the way I want it MY shed My way :yes: :yes: Do what I want with it , god that feels so good!!!!! I looked in Bunnings and they were heaps more than that, very dear here. But will look again. Would that door of your be able to be cut down because My door way is about 75cm wide probably 190 cm high just guessing here.

No...cant be cut down.
