Posted September 3, 201014 yr This is the cock bird The other 2 of the pair what do you guys think? So here are the $200 pair! Did I get my money's worth? LOL I think they are awesome anyway, went to another breeders place, his violets were alot smaller, and not as brightly coloured, So I decided on these guys....... got to think of some names for them They are in love already, haven't been with the opposite sex since in the nest!
September 3, 201014 yr Cock is definitely violet, hen i cant be sure about. Either violet sky or cobalt, shame she has a pied tail and you cant be sure Breeding will help prove it either way
September 3, 201014 yr Very nice, I like them both, glad they are good for the price you paid Edited September 3, 201014 yr by splat

Just a tip,you might want to trim her nails ,you don't want any of those future eggs being punctured .Nice budgies By The Way.
September 3, 201014 yr Very nice cock bird violet or no! The hen is okay but not the quality of the cock by far.
September 3, 201014 yr top cock bird like nubbly5 say i the hen is nice but not the best hen for him nice color and birds best off luck nice pair
September 3, 201014 yr well hes a nice deep violet hes got nice body, tight in the wing area which is good (i think ) looks like some one tryed to spot him so cant really comment on his spots but mask is nice and deep he has nothing spectacular over the head but hes got the direction needed and over the eyes feathering just not long but that does not mean he does not hold this characteristic in his genetics i would not pair him with her as she has a very short mask small spots and not much head feather i personally dont like her for him but if colour and variety is really all your after then id say she will give you what your wanting with out a doubt i think she looks sky blue but then did you used a flash ??? they are both nice birds but i would not of payed 200.00 for them myself but then i do not know their blood lines or the breeder whom you revived them from so .. and sometimes birds look just average yet produce fantastic im hoping for you shes one of them birds if not u will get pieds that you can add to later so either way you will win and sky or sky violet you will get violets regardless cause of him so im glad you got what your after as we all look for different quality's in a bird so no one can really judge them for you but you but i think you got what you wanted so congrats mate and happy breeding

You seem to have used a flash on the camera when tasking these photos ? That will alter the way the violet is seen. Possibly the hen is sky violet. Take some normal daylight shots tomorrow
September 8, 201014 yr He is a stunning critter Id have paid close to 200 just for him if you got me on a good day, She seems to have some distinct violet up on her neck area and possibly isnt the best of her family if they are from the same breeder and you may get some ripper chicks who knows?
September 8, 201014 yr Lovely pair. Cock looks Violet and hen a Violet sky. So if the aim of the exercise is to breed violet pieds then well done. I love the cock. He is a quality violet and a good budgie to boot. The hen has length and good feather other than on her head. I think a good pairing because if they are from a good breeder the hen may breed better than herself. I think she will add length to the cock. To me the cock is worth a mimimum of $200 and the hen being a violet sky a mimimum of $100. So, good value. The hen looks young and if the cock is 2 or 3 years old then you have done well. Even better if he is younger. I hope they do well for you. All the best. Edited September 8, 201014 yr by JeffL
September 8, 201014 yr I agree with everything Jeff said, Totally I would love that violet and I wouldn't mind the hen either. I don't get much for my birds but last year I did get good money, for one of my violet brothers ( the weaker one of the 3).
