My Cobalt Baby Is Sick

Featured Replies

Posted

I notice yesterday that my cobalt baby was struggling and today he looked a fluffed, he still feels a big bird in my hand but his keel bone is sharp. I put him in the hospital cage for warmth and he is sitting under the light so he must need the heat.

I have put him on doxy but my gut tells me to put him on funglin meds BUT I thought I would try the doxy first. He does now have a pooy bum.

His crop was empty earlier so I cropped him with polyaide.

I just want to say...........that I had one like this. he wouldnt eat either and looked like a vulture. Hunched and dehydrated and skinny as. I was crop feeding him morning and night. One time I had a budgie show to go to and I was going to be gone all day. I looked at that pathetic creature and I said.....Okay, if you want to die, go ahead and die.

When I came home that night he was still with us and his crop was full of seed. He has gone on to win Best in Show on several occasions.

I hope the same happens for your little guy. I hope he turns the corner too :)

Well My my bird is DEAD my fault, I am so annoyed with myself , have slamed the doors and everything, I just wished I ahd of left him alone, GOD i hate using that crop needle.

I had trouble getting it in, and so I tried again, I felt it go in right and I fed him but he died in my hands, this happened 2 years ago.

I am off the crop needle again. annoyed annoyed annoyed, I wish I could say something else but I can't.

I don't know what I did wrong because I I have cropped heaps of times.

It must of went into his lungs but he had no bubbles come out of his nostrils, I really wished I had of left him alone he may of made it, he was lively enough, now I have lost a really good bird.

Very sorry to hear this mate. It may not have been about the crop feed. It may just have been him giving up, thats all ........

No it was the crop I think Kaz because he was lively as in the cage. God I am angry with myself.

Just like what happened with my baby hen when i tried to splint her splayed legs, ended up BREAKING her leg and had to euthanize her. Feel for ya :)

Thank you DEan, Yes I know how you felt too. :)

I have bben so angry with mysel all day, but when I went out to investagate him more hoping he would jump up and surprise me but no he is really gone, BUT his crop was totally empty so I really think he would of died adventually anyway, I just sped up the process.

Saving on the power bill. Well i have to look on the bright side of things :o

But besides the hen he was the best out of that nest. The whole lo were really good. So I am hoping the 5 in the nest now are just as good or even better :)
