Eating Eggs

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a pair of budgies in a breeding box and she has laid eggs a few times now, usually btwn 3 and 5. She will sit on them and the male will also help her. Quite often when I check on them the male will have a wing over the female. They seem to be healthy and are well fed with seed and veges/fruit. Cuttle fish is always there.

The problem is after a while she will eat the eggs, as there is no sign of them left. The whole lot is gone.

I have tried to find an answer but came up empty. What is the best solution, is she just a bad mother?

Thanks

Steve

Let her have a long, 6 month rest. Other members can help out here more than me.

I am sure its not mice, checked and there is no sign of them, have traps set all the time as well.

I would rest the pair for a few months, try again and if she or he does it again dont use them again.
