Posted August 29, 201014 yr Hi there, is there anyone who can help me about flying overseas with a budgie? So, what are the regulations in Australia? Does it only depend on the airline companies or is there anything to do beforehand according to the laws? I will fly in 2 months and i don't want to be late for any necessary action i should do. Any helpfull information will be appreciated. Thank you all...
August 29, 201014 yr Why don't you ring the airport and see if you are allowed to because no birds can come into Australia, so I am guessing no birds can go out, plus even if they were allowed to they would have to go into quanteene once you are arrive, the whole thing would be very expensive.
August 29, 201014 yr Author Oh !!! NO!!! ..(( Are you sure that "no bird can go out" ?????? he is my lovely friend, i can't live without him!!!! what's the point? it's not a kangoroo, koala, or a possum....I am hoping that the government will not be so unfair about this. anyone knows more about this ??? urgent reply needed.
August 29, 201014 yr I agree with Splat - ring the airport - they are the ones you'd need to speak to in regards to quarantine and exporting birds. Doesn't matter if it a kangaroo, koala, possum or a budgie or even other forms of animals an livestock - they all require quarantine. The government isn't being unfair - it's being safe. Or maybe contact AQIS - Australian Quarantine Inspection Service. They would be able to tell you if the airports can't.
August 29, 201014 yr AQIS is who you need to talk to. Pets can be taken with you and brought in. But you havent said where you are going and if its holiday or permanent. There are a whole set of rules and regulations and it all depends on the laws of the country you are EXPORTING your pet from and the country you are IMPORTING your pet into. Exporting a companion pet http://www.daff.gov.au/aqis/export/live-animals/companion and importing rules is to be directed to the country you are going to which you havent said. Its not as simple as a suitable container, a flight and so on. Edited August 29, 201014 yr by KAZ

I think your chances of taking, the budgie, with you are very slim, AQIS,have to become involved & as Kaz said, depending where you are going. I havn't heard of budgies, being shiped out of OZ in a long time,so there may be a ban on exporting them out of Australia.

I am talking about being unfair about putting budgies with the same categorie as kangoroos and koalas as they are the animals living only in Australia....anyway. thanks others for the links, they are very helpfull. .
