October 3, 201014 yr Thanks for posting these photos ... They look great. Well fed babies. I love seeing red eyes in a nest. PS Kens princesses have got three red eyed babies in the nest too.
October 3, 201014 yr Author PS Kens princesses have got three red eyed babies in the nest too. Oh wow how exciting!! We have given up on our Princess pair, they really seemed to be doing nothing. Our Barrabands bred last year though and the hen has gone to nest again just recently. The Kings arent doing much, still looking and not doing, but I cant give up the Kings lol
October 3, 201014 yr the wy that cock is moulting hard indicates he needs extra vitamins i would be flying him and her for a month after the chicks fledge or even marrie them off in a cage they can fly in with out nest when they both have totally no pins left showing then id putnest back in just my opinion though beautiful chicks by way

October 5, 201014 yr Author Second pair: Sky blue cock I bred last year with Fallow Sky hen, sister to the one above. Yay they have their first chick! He is my champion novice cock so I was REALLY hoping they would give me something, as I am hoping to have nice sized splits from them. Pair three have two splits and one fallow chick. Pair four are still not due yet.
October 5, 201014 yr Yay for pinkies! He is stunning, hopefully some real nice chicks! (from all the pairs) I can't wait to see them feather up! Edited October 5, 201014 yr by Squeak_Crumble
October 5, 201014 yr Author Me too. Most of them are looking to be blue series which is my preference, so I'm happy with that. I fostered the two youngest fallow chicks out today, so "single mum" has no babies to look after now. I am letting her just have a couple of days on her own, and I will put the fallow cock back in there Friday morning, when I am home to watch and see how they go. Hopefully, they will happily bond again and give my another round of lovely fallow babies
October 10, 201014 yr Author Update: Good news and bad news. The Bad: I came home from my fiance's today and found one of my fallow hens dead on the floor of the breeding cabinet. I have no idea why, she seemed perfectly healthy when I left yesterday. I guess she may have had something wrong with her, as two of her chicks didnt make it either and not due to her death. I have re paired her cock bird with a new hen - not fallow. The Good: I have re paired my fallow hen back with her original boy, after letting him fly in the aviary to get through his moult. He is looking much healthier and happier. I fostered their last two chicks, so they can have a fresh start together. I left her alone for a couple of days before I reintroduced him, and she was REALLY happy to see him. Head bobbing, beak tapping and hopping back and forward between perches. He seemed a little intimidated by her exuberance initially, but he is now happily chatting to her while she is back in the nest box, so fingers crossed, more eggs and babies to come from them (Pair one) The split to split pair I put down, who took a while to settle have hatched their first baby. I cant believe my luck - it's a fallow The other fallow chicks, all from pair one are doing well and starting to get some colour, although, I am still not sure what their colours are yet lol
October 11, 201014 yr Soory to hear about your fallow hen Sunnie, but congratulations on your fallow chick from the two splits.
October 14, 201014 yr Author Some pics of Pair 1's babies The split to split pair so far have two fallow babies. The split to fallow pair have two splits and one fallow chick. Will update with their pictures when the youngest has some colour
October 14, 201014 yr Wow!! They look great!! But I love chicks at this stage of development! Soo gorgeous!
October 23, 201014 yr Author Just a couple of pics - excuse the blurry quality, they are from my phone as my son is away and has my camera. Oldest fallow chick from pair one (just fledged and still with foster parents) Youngest fallow baby (in back) from pair one with two foster siblings - split fallows from pair three. Pair three also have a fallow baby fostered to pair four's nest and he is just pinning now.
October 23, 201014 yr Just beautiful Sunnie. I've never been into fallows, but with chicks as adorable as this and all the other great looking fallows I've seen on the site lately I think I'm being swayed.
October 23, 201014 yr Author Thanks guys. I have always been a fan of fallows, but found them so hard to get hold of to get my breeding going - now it seems there are at least three others in my club that are starting to do this variety this year and a few on the forum who breed them also. Great to see the variety is making a come back and may not be so hard to get hold of!
October 23, 201014 yr They are very nice, Sunnie! I think the fallows look cool. They probably don't have fallow pet types, though. And probably not in the U.S. Oh, well, I will just be happy to look at the nice pictures on here.
October 23, 201014 yr Author I think the fallow pet types are around, in fact my first few were more pet type than show type. Being a recessive variety, it is more difficult to get size into. My little yellow fallow will probably be too small to keep, but I have to be careful just starting out - I dont want to get rid of anything I might regret later
October 23, 201014 yr Your babies look adorable..............you must be real happy with them. I got a Peter Thurn ( aka Chookbreeder ) fallow split for Nubbly when I went to the Western Suburbs auction a week ago ..............shes not too bad
