Posted August 16, 201014 yr i was going through my 1000 and more pictures and i was sad as i saw so many beautiful colored birds and i was in the middle of a 6 year breeding plan with 3 years to go with my pet type rainbow df golden face birds when i decided to go into show birds why ... im beginning to wonder this myself although i will never turn back i am however going to start myself another small pet type flock as i miss the colors so much and the challenge of achieving them (although wasnt much a challenge for me achieving the colors it was the df yf opaline violet i was enjoying trying to achieve ) my only problem was i couldnt get hold of a clearwing pair in blue base so i decided after a while to just settle on the cinnamon instead and trying to keep good deep body colour with it this time around im going to be able to breed real rainbows as i have my hands on a split clear wing blue chick hen or cock wont matter and im soon to get a goldenface not sure if it will be df or single but again wont matter as only having one all chicks would be single factor regardless im planing to breed my split clearwing to the goldenface then the split clearwing to a violet of the other sex then pair all chicks together from both clutches that is to say if i have boys and gals from each clutch im bound to get at least one or two clear wings that way yes its a big chance and theirs easyer ways but i miss the exitment of the unpredictibal show birds dont have that you know the out come before you pair sure theirs a few people who get suprizes but not if you got good history's on your birds so i will keep small flock of pets once again i kept two pet birds from my show birds breedings they are really not show birds very beautiful but only pet birds so i will start my pet line with them here are some the reasons im going to get back into the pets most these birds were sold to people from here so you may be thinking wow thatlooks like my bird it just might be i got heaps more pics to put up so many birds Edited August 16, 201014 yr by GenericBlue

August 16, 201014 yr Beautiful Birds GB. We are guilty of window shopping for Budgies, okay so it winds up a purchase. We currently have a pair of Budgies raising young, and we are anxious to see what the out come is, Kramer is single factor violet, as his father was violet and his mother a white, I am assuming double spangle. We got very lucky in getting Kramer, 15 bucks for a visual violet, not a bad purchase. The pet budgies we get bring us so much pleasure, and we are always on the lookout for unique variations. We just go in to the shop and if there is one that grabs us, we either buy it then or ask the guy to hold it till we can purchase it. Guess that is how we got to 15 Budgies lol. We finally found out our Danish recessive Pied is a He. I walked into the pet shop to grab some hand rearing formula and saw one about the same size as Darrell and I talked to it, when it turned around I saw the beak was brown. We haven't decided on what to pair Darrell with, I guess whatever hen we see that grabs our attention. I would not trade the 15 Budgies we have right now for anything, they all have their unique personalities.

I would not trade the 15 Budgies we have right now for anything, they all have their unique personalities. may i ask if you have fifteen budgies why would you need to get darrell a partner couldnt you find a suited hen breeding pets is about the genetics and colour i only had 4 pairs to start with i got eaight but the rest i breed from my own bred babys the possibilitys are so large with out needing to interbred your birds with just that small amount of birds even if you had 5 cocks and 10 hens or 10 cocks and five hens you can achive so much if i was you so its more fun id split darrell of to to diffrent hens that will achive to difrent color rezults say violet or skyblue and cobalt and mauve or grey then id pair the two clutches babys together this way you will get rec pieds and normals plus what ever other mutations the birds may have eg opaline or cinnamon its more fun as you can make colours you exactly want rather than buying two random pretty birds with no back ground why not mate your own and know the background im sure with fifteen birds you would have a suiter or two for him its fun trying to achive as many splits and visual mutations you can on the one bird well it was for me i had most birds with 3 vishual if not 5 visual mutations and 3 to five difrent splits eg golden face. opaline .spangle.dom pied ,cinnamon cock/albino /rec pied thirs so many things you can split birds too and have them hold visually it never gets borring
August 16, 201014 yr We're quite new to all this. We originally only wanted Kramer to have a mate, and then things got out of control, lol. I'll have to go back to Ken Yorke's variety bible and try to ID stormie or when I get the chance get a good picture and put her on here and get a mutation ID. We have one hen depends on how the light is hitting her, she appears to be grey, but when light hits her, she shows violet. She's named Willow. We are guilty of robbing Buffy the Vampire slayer for names. Darrell for the longest time, was thought a male, until we looked it up and I saw that hen in the Pet shop. He is the only recessive pied we have. We have alot to learn about the Genetics and the like. We currently are in the process of making up a care sheet for the new Budgies, as we have several people state they want one. We are doing it in the first person point of view. Like it is the Budgie telling what it needs to be happy and healthy. Once we get all the birds Identified as to mutations and variations. Then we will sit down and look at what we have in pairings. After this clutch, we plan on giving both Kramer and Hedwig a years rest. But we do have 13 others to choose from. We don't plan on selling any to the petshops, as they don't really care about them, they just look to make money from them. Sorry about the book here, lol. I got carried away.
