September 13, 201014 yr Author Well this is the best i can do with a bid box and some very active baby birds lol. First bird: And Here is its cere 2nd bird:
September 13, 201014 yr well ill be stood corrected that is definitely not cinnamon beautiful spangling on second chick and beautiful clear mantel on Opaline chick also im going to say that i was wrong with colour also in this picture they are second one cobalt looking could be violet if it was you would know by just looking so if its not purple its cobalt first one cant really tell from top but not sure its mauve but not sure its not its violet looking more than number too but still greyish so mmmm im guessing i should just wait to see when its fledged in light on a perch but you will know yourself by then im sure their both beautiful chicks mate
September 13, 201014 yr Author See when i compare them to pictures on the net i find the first chick mauve and the second chick sky blue. So there both females correct?? See when i compare them to pictures on the net i find the first chick mauve and the second chick sky blue. So there both females correct??And anyway don't they both have to be spangles anyway seeing as the mother is a DF spangle?
September 14, 201014 yr And Here is its cere Well, that is definitely a front on cere shot! But unfortunately, the way the color looks washed out, it's hard to tell whether that's any white I'm seeing, or just the lighting conditions. I almost think it could be a male, but it's hard to say.

What do you see when you look at the bird in person?

September 22, 201014 yr Author Just to let everyone know both birds are out the nest eating seed from the floor of breeding cage. LOL they keep trying to get back into the nesting box but the hen literally throws them both out lol. She laid another egg today is it okay to keep it in there?? Also when do I move the young too into the kindi cage? Is there any quarantine needed?
September 22, 201014 yr Move the babies into a kindie cage NOW.....................before the hen attacks them for trying to get back into her nestbox where she is keen to have a second round of eggs.
September 22, 201014 yr I agree with Kaz 100% It is CRUCIAL that you move the chicks. Otherwise you risk their lives. The mother is ready to lay and she will kill them if she see's them as something dangerous to her new nest. Only a couple days ago I had it happen to a nest that wern't even leaving the nest yet. Edited September 22, 201014 yr by Squeak_Crumble
September 23, 201014 yr okay i moved them. How can i be 100% sure they can eat by themselfs? You said they have been eating seed on the floor. They should be alright. If you put seed in and their are no husks, you know they aren't eating.
