Double Yolker Budgie Eggs

hi everybody i went out to my birdroom this morning and i realised i had a double yolker egg and there are 2 embreos in side (its fertile) . I'm completly confused what should i do with the egg. let it hatch or dispose of it?

If you do a search of double yokers you'll find some others on here have had them in the past... I say definitely keep it. :lol:

You will find that most of them ( 99%) at least will die before hatching as they run out of space in the egg to develop properly. Use the search function on BBC and punch in a search for twins and see what comes up.

 

 

I have had successful twins once and still have one of them here.

Let it hatch. They often dont and may need assistance at hatch time, but even then they may die. Worth a try.

If you see the egg develop dark lines or staining on the shell at some point it will indicate the chicks died before they fully developed.

okay thanks for that everyone i will keep the egg and see what happends i don't think the chicks in the egg will run out of room for growing because the egg is twice the size of a normal budgie egg i dont know they might still run out of room for growing though?
