Posted July 30, 201014 yr If it's safe to feed budgies bread sometimes..it is okay to give them (as a once-off) these pretty much pretend bread-ultra-healthy-wraps? If you need to know the ingredients: Rice flour, tapioca flour, potato flour, canola oil, dextrose, sugar, iodised salt, humectant (422), raising agent (500, 450), preservative (220, 282), emulsifier (471), thickener (466), colour (160a) I just copied the ingredients from the packet exactly in case something is in there that you know of that is dangerous to budgies. I bought these wraps and found out they were...not very nice to human taste so perhaps my birds might like them? I wouldn't want to feed it to them and THEN find out I shouldn't have!! So, can I safely feed this to them?
July 30, 201014 yr My birds occasionally get wholegrain bread and demolish it with no evident side affects. I know many a breeder who gives bread to their budgies not in large quantities, and ken feeds wholegrain bread to his parrots too 3 times a week.
July 30, 201014 yr One of our most successful breeders in Victoria years ago was Mr Brian Dadd, Brian was a baker, his birds were given as much bread and buns as they could eat. Cheers Clearwing

Mine like wholegrain bread too. I do not like the idea of them having salt and preservative so I make them a pumpkin bread using wholegrain flour but with no rising agent, no salt and no preservative. Pumpkin has a lot of fibre and less carbohydrate than rice and potato.
