Finnie has had two chicks hatch two days in a row!

The new one actually seems larger than yesterday's chick, so I'm afraid I will lose track of which is which. Actually, I could tell before the second one was fed, but now that they both have food in their crop, I can't. Well, swapped at birth doesn't really matter in this case- no birthright hinging on it! :) Whoever fits a leg ring first will be dubbed "the oldest". :)

This one seems to have a lot of air in its crop. I hope that resolves itself, because I really don't want to have to interfere.

Lovely Pinkies Finnie, It will be exciting to see them feather up. All the best with all your pairs will keep following your progress.

Love the photos where the babies seem to be cuddling the eggs :emoticon112:

I don't think those last four eggs are going to survive :( They look too dirty, and I'm afraid if I try to clean them off, I'll kill them for sure. (If they haven't already been addled.) I thought about fostering them to the other nests, but the other hens have 7 and 8 eggs of their own. :)

These hens are egg-laying fools!

Healthy pink babies! Looking good there Finnie.

Hey can I ask..... how come your bird seed is coloured???

That's a good question, so I went to look up what was in it.

Here is a link to the ingredients:Reed Seed Co.

It lists "blue millet" and "green millet" I've heard of white and red millet, which are natural, but the blue and green are obviously dyed! That's ridiculous! It also lists "fruity kibble", which I've always assumed was the colored parts.

This is the only company around here where you can buy bulk seed (50 lb bag for $30.00U.S.) You have to go to the bird fair to get it, which is about 4 times a year. I wish it didn't have all the extra stuff like dried fruit and coconut- my birds leave all that. They also leave all the rapeseed. But otherwise, there is very little waste, just the hulls- I rarely ever see any uneated seed, other than the rape. And it is so much cheaper than buying the small 5lb bags in the pet store, so the birds and I just put up with the extras. :)

(I have no idea what "canvay" "flower :( " and "flay" are.)
