We were wondering what the youngest one will throw. I agree with the youngest being normal. Question is what colour. They are getting used to being held, as soon as the box lid is open, they all look up to see who is there lol.

Hey Tomlou, do you realize there are no pictures of the parents in this thread? I remember Hedwig from your other post, but I cannot remember what Kramer is.

 

If we can see photos of the parents, we can help you work out what colors to expect. Going by what I remember about Hedwig, these babies are all split for recessive pied, and if they are boys, they are split for cinnamon. And they could have violet factor. (I can't say about dark factors until I know what Kramer has.)

 

 

Here is Kramer, he is a single factor violet. Unfortunately we did not get to see his parents. Only told that the father was a violet and the hen was white. This picture is from awhile ago.

Okay, so each parent has one dark factor.

 

So you can get 25% two dark factors, 50% one dark factor, and 25% no dark factor.

 

If that last baby is looking darker than the others, it could be a mauve.

 

All your babies should have normal colored wings, UNLESS Kramer is split for cinnamon.

 

To get grey wings, Kramer and Hedwig would both need to be split for greywing, which is always possible. But I think the spangle pattern often makes normal black wing bars appear lighter, so they might seem grey from a distance, but they could really be black. Just look closely. If they are actual grey bars, you should be able to tell.

 

I don't know if this helps. You can basically get any shade of blue and violet possible!

 

The oldest Chick at 22 days

okay, on day 24 the oldest one was out of the nest. Hedwig was wigging out, so I put it back in the box. So far it has not wandered back out again. Have placed seed and millet inside of box for all three. The youngest of the three is going to look the most like Kramer, the other two like the mother with the exception of a very blue breast. The first two are definitely spangle, the youngest one favours Kramer. Kramer has taken a greater interest in the nesting box hole,provided he isn't getting chased away by Hedwig,lol. I reckon by Friday which is the 28 day mark, they will start to come out of the box. Hard to believe it's been four weeks almost, and no sooner then we get these three raised, then we start the whole cycle again with the other pair. The youngest of the three is throwing really violet feathers in the back and tail. The other two seem to be almost like a turqouise colour. I don't think Kramer is split for cinnamon as it has not shown up on any of the offspring. Will try to post more pics up, but they are moving around alot more then they first did lol.
