Posted July 11, 201014 yr Hi all.... GREAT news, Greg is going to let me build or buy a new breed room. I ran it past him about buying 10ftx 10ft garden shed and deck it out how I want it but then he suggested that he might extend his garage and I have the new bit which will be 12ft wide by 10ft long yippy plus high ceiling wow. and PLUS room to move ......over the moon. So far it is only talk but at least I can do something So some type of new breed room is coming my way, so I better start saving. I can't wait but it will be a slow progress over the next few months but that's okay. I actually would love it to be 12ft x 10 ft because that will give me a small aviary too.
July 11, 201014 yr Author Thanks Shannon. We have now talked about wooden frame work just like a house then use cement sheeting for the exterier Greg thought that was a good idea. I thought good too as I can have the 12ft by 10ft that way. But we are still talking and discussing
July 12, 201014 yr Author Well just went shopping pricing different thing if we build from scratch. I priced the cement sheeting for the out side walls and the tin for the roof. Just need to work out how much the wood for the framing will cost and then compare it to the garden shed price. Ha ha even priced the glue on lino tiles, sooooo excited. might have a nice floor yet one that is not up and down all over the place So I will have to get some one else to do the cementing as Greg can't do it straight
July 13, 201014 yr Author Last night I rang a builder to get a quote on him building me the frame work, will see him tonight at our meeting. Yep excited but I hope it is not toooo much. I was planning on having the ceiling 210 metres high. do you think that is high enough. As Brad said 240 wouldbe better as it is having a flat roof but then he said 210 would be high enough me, haha Edited July 13, 201014 yr by splat
July 13, 201014 yr Its not about whether or not its high enough for your personal height Splat, ......the higher the roof the cooler it will be inside. It allows you to go higher up with breeding cabinet or storage etc. I have a step ladder in my birdroom to access anything taller than me. My breeding room is 2.4 high and 2.7 at the apex of the gable in the middle. Aviary flights are 2.4m high also. Go as high as you can....it will help. I insulated using the polyester batting in the walls and lined the inside too. Big difference.
July 13, 201014 yr Author Yep thta's what I thought, and yep going to insulate for sure... really excited about that bit

Our ceiling height will only be 1.7m and 2m in the middle. We are insulating also. I don't plan on breeding in summer, so does it matter that it won't be 2.4-2.7m high?
July 13, 201014 yr Author Sure will but it will be a slow process because of $$$$$$. I have to drive to Leeton next week to buy bird seed a 3hour drive so I need to buy 5 or 6 bags to make it worth the trip. Hope the car can manage it, I mean the weight of the seed. BUT that will be $$$$$ . But birds need to eat
July 19, 201014 yr Author Hi all. Sad news no new breed room Greg has chucked it and said no but mainly because of how much it is going to cost me. BUT he came around and he said he will make the first part of my old breed room wider by 3 feet and extend it out about 5 feet but I will try and talk him into 6 or 7 feet. So that means a whole new part so it will be about 33 feet log or more the old part he will make wider will be 7 or 8 feet wide and the extension will about 10 or 12 feet wide I hope and think. TO be worked out yet but as he says it will be much more affordable for me this way and I will have enough room for a window and maybe a sink BUT the only downfall is it won't be any higher and that is what I really want but beggers can't be choosers . But I am trying to con him into making the new part a little higher. Will post report as we get going and that won't be long as most the cages in that area are nearly empty. Hopefully I can make it look nice, but at least I will have heaps more room to move around.
July 23, 201014 yr Author Gosh this idea of a new breed room is driving me nuts. It's doing my head in. Greg wantes to build but then it will be smaller and shorter in height plus permentant. I want it so if anything happens I can take it with me. PLUS I want the height. I have my eye on a 3mx3m Garden shed and they will make it 210cm for extra $$$ which is good. I have already bought my window because garden shed windows are small and crappy. BUT today I had another brain storm. I rang y son Matthew who is a metal worker (welding , sheet meatal etc) and asked him if he would make me a frame, that is portable, he is ringing back later, he lives in Bendigo. Garden sheds don't have frames and I am worried that t would collapes with the weight of the lining I plan on using. So I am hoping this will be a better option if he has time to do it and deliver it to me. That's my biggest head, I now have a little car with no tow bar, I am so use to attaching the trailer and getting what ever I felt like but I can't anymore and that is driving me nuts. Being in asmall town there is nothing here, need to drive to Shepparton to get stuff. Places like bunnings will deliver but crikey $70. a trip bit expensive i think. Crossing my fingers Matthew will do it and at a good price.

July 24, 201014 yr Author Yes Yes Yes good news Matthew will weld me a a frame for my shed, one that is in sections. Will seehim tonight so may find out more. BUT he can't do it for a couple of months because they just bought a new home and is trying to sort all that out plus work. I have no patience, when I decide I want something I want it yesterday, SO NOW have have to be patient. It's going to kill me BUT in the meantime we can work on the cement slab

July 25, 201014 yr Author I am having the same problem Taboo But still trying. This is the shed I want but I am not sure I can save that much money in a short time http://gardenshedsonline.com.au/products/Y..._260A-50-7.html But this is ideal, it is a bit smaller in depth than what i wanted but it has framing so much more solid and it has the height, 210 at walls and 2445 at gable. BUT I AM USELESS at SAVING something always comes up but I think I will settle for this onehttp://gardenshedsonline.com.au/products/Y..._260A-50-7.htmland try and get the extra height. Anyway still trying to save Edited July 25, 201014 yr by KAZ

We also got a 3x3 off ebay for $140.

I saw a great garage on ebay and I wished, it was I think 7 mts long with pull up door and already disembled ready to go and it had the height I wanted and it only went for $600 and something. BUT Melbourne is to far. The problem with most garden sheds they are only 180 high at wall and I really want 210. Edited July 26, 201014 yr by splat
July 26, 201014 yr What is the actual size of the area you have to put your new shed mate I will do some looking for you too
July 26, 201014 yr Author I can fit 12 feet by 16ft but I really am allowed 10 by 12, BUT Greg reckons 10x 10 which is basically 3x3 is plenty big enough but I think NOT. But seriously I am settling for the 3x3. I went to my nieces 18th birthday party Saturday night and there in the yard was this new steelchief 3x3 shed. I thought beauty so I asked Mick my brother where he got it from plus how much. $495.00 on special till the end of the month. I checked out the size I thought oh yeh it will do just and I checked out the inside to see if I can line it and yep , the best part is it come in panels the 4 sides and roof no putting together from a box. It was funny while I was checking out the inside I saw the ground in there but didn't take any notice but after I fourth trip and also wondering why heaps of people kept going in there. On my fifth trip to have another look at the inside I thought WHAT, here was a greyhound in a big basket and saw blood then silly me relised the poor girl was in labour 3 pups at my last look. ANY way I rang Numurkah building supplies this morning to inquire. And I am ordering a 3x3m with one door because that is what I want and 210 high at wall and 240 at gable. $670.80 dilivered to my place. I didn't get the special price because I wanted to the extra height. He did mention 3 x 3.4 something and $7 hundred and something not including the extra height. which I was so tempted even bigger But I think I can make a small aviary along one side about 70 - 80cm wide and the 10 ft long or mabe even 7ft long as that would give me room for some cages or a sink at that end. Then that leaves me about 200 - 220cm along back wall to put cages and I think I will fit 3 wire cages acroos there with a bit of room between them and I can have 2 or 3 tier of cages, so that will be 6 or 9 cages on the back wall. then On the other side I should have the same space maybe a bit more to fit the same cages again , as you know corners a wasted. But I am thinking on that. On the front wall is the door but on one side of the door I will have a window wich is about a 1mt long and my trophy cabinet hopefully above that. I would like to put a window on the side of the aviary part too. I haven't ordered the shed yet next week if all goes to plan. Oh I found those connect joiners for my aviary. I am also putting a wirly thing on the roof. BUT Kaz you can have a look if you want as I would like bigger but any bigger than what I have looked at new is to expensive for me.
August 9, 201014 yr Author Disaster hit today, breedroom will more than likely be put on hold indefinetley. BLEW MY CAR UP really sucks, thankfully Clearwing came to my aide as I was sitting on the side of the road probably more than 20ks from my town and know one to help. Clearwing loaned me a car for a few weeks, what a friend. Beautiful car at that A hose blew and I didn't know and kept driving until the car just died. smoke everywhere from the engine. Poor car is totally stuffed. Thee machanic is trying to see how much it will cost to fix urrgghhh a new motor aggrhh. He said I have done the head for sure and probably warped it too so not good. I loved that little car that my sond bought me last year. What sucks is that the heat gage didn't show that it was over heating
