Posted July 9, 201014 yr I have found out that Dimitri loves bananas the most so far, so I dice it up with some apples, sprinkle some seeds in then mix it together. I am so proud of him . Trying to get him on the greens now, but it isn't working yet.
July 9, 201014 yr Excellent progress!!! If he's willing to try one thing, I'd be betting he'll try other things to. Try cutting things up differently or grating them and keep sprinkling them with seed.
July 9, 201014 yr I havent tried bananas yet with my birds. I might now that you said how yours loves it
July 9, 201014 yr i have provided a buffet of veg but all mine eat are CORN! they must like the sweetness
July 9, 201014 yr I think it is because corn resembles seed. Mine hull it. They chew on it and get all of it out, then drop it. Mine are into carrot tops.
July 9, 201014 yr I had no idea you could give them banana. Hmm maybe thats why I get weird looks from them when I eat them,LOL btu hey I all for sharing I already HAVE to give some too my guinea pig when I eat one why not them too. But Bailey he's quite good with veges as a re Kiwi and Toshiro but the others wont take it, but perhaps banana will help change their mind.
July 9, 201014 yr Banana sounds great, and I will try it too, but if it sits there a while and goes brown, do you think it will hurt them? I would also guess that the extra ripe ones might be too sugary? Would it affect their poos?
July 10, 201014 yr i have provided a buffet of veg but all mine eat are CORN! they must like the sweetness The sweetness would be part of the attraction but, I believe, the main one would be that they instinctively go for the most energy-dense food. If you want them to eat a particular food, you don't provide choices. A smorgasbord invites them to choose some and leave the rest. Edited July 10, 201014 yr by Catherine
