July 6, 201014 yr It is to cold here in Victoria to breed really, we are having a real cold snap at the moment. I am pairing up my birds today but not putting them down for a couple of more weeks yet as it is too cold and I have a breed room. I am just deciding who's going with what. :fear

July 6, 201014 yr Well I paired my up today and was putting them down in acouple of weeks but have changed my mind as most of them a rearing to go , so I guess I am going for it Even that violet the one that does it to the stick he was ever so keen with the hen and I haven't seen him like that ever so I guess what the heck, why waste the moment, goody goody more little violets on their way :fear And wow what good little violets they will be
July 7, 201014 yr Hi Crystal Rose, I am a bit further up coast from you, yes it's been colder this year I think. My birds are not breeding now BUT if I had nestbox's in they would. They are all excited and finding mates in aviary. I can't breed now because my aviary is not big enough for more birds. If your aviary is similar to photo posted, you would not have enough room for more birds. Once 1 or 2 of your pairs breed you could end up with another 10 or more chicks as well. So before I bought in more birds I'd see how many you breed up. Like me you probably have to sell some as your cage will be to small.

If her aviary is similar to my picture, then she would have room for more birds. I have fit 12 budgies in there happily with space for more. Also, just because you breed birds, it does not mean you need to keep them. Most people sell babies as pets, or to a shop.

I certainly wouldnt breed four pairs of budgies colony style in an aviary like yours squeak crumble. Been there, done that with colony breeding and wont do it again. I suggest all debate stops on this topic until we see the actual set up which has not yet occurred
July 9, 201014 yr wrapping a tape measure around it then it is way to small sorry i know the cage your on about i suggest you save money buy three separate cages then breed them in them the round cage not only be dangerous to birds as round and tall rather than long and rectangle no rome to go if fighting accured to prevent all just get separate cages i say
July 10, 201014 yr Maybe you can do what we did. This cage here is very similar and Greg has covered in both side to stop the rain from getting in and the added a round about 4 foot flight and it's about 4 ft wide too. we have cockatiels in this as to date I am still nagging Greg to put a roof on the extension for more protection from the weather and other birds pooping in it. Because every night I have to chase Charlie into the covered part she's a bit dumb. But still this is an idea, you can pick scraps of steel up at the tip etc . It could have more shelter (like more tin on the sides too) The door is from the origional part Greg just took if off and put in on the new part This one looks like it is the leaning Tower of piza or what ever it's called But you get the general idea Could be done out of wood too.
July 10, 201014 yr The original poster of this topic STILL has not posted a picture of her aviary so anything "similar" is pure guesswork at this stage. Squeak crumble has confused the topic by posting her own aviary pictures Why dont we all wait till photos are posted before further comment or suggestions in this topic

Squeak crumble has confused the topic by posting her own aviary pictures I am not the only one who posted pictures Also, she said it was similar to mine, so we are just trying to picture it.
July 10, 201014 yr wait for the REAL PHOTOS before any further comment. It would be the sensible thing to do
