I currently have a chick growing up. His parents are a Cobalt Cock / Albino X Cinnamon Rec.Pied Grey-Green Hen

 

Just wondering what i can expect from these two? Chick is white based

well if it isnt an albino

you can get grey or blue as im thinking you know you only get green if both birds are not split blue

so mum must be split blue good to note that down for future

I dont think mum is split blue.... Her previous clutch was with a grey cinnamon and she got out 4 grey-green cinnamons and one grey... whoops I just realised she must be

Grey Greens are are kind of split blue series (grey) by default. I find that most of my grey green to blue matings produce grey young.

Colours could be Grey, Grey Green or Blue (but more likely one of the 1st two)

 

I'm assuming the cock is normal and not opaline or split opaline or split cinnamon.

 

Mutations could be:

If it's a hen Albino split for Recessive Pied or Normal split for Recessesive Pied.

& if it's a cock Normal Split for Cinnamon and Recessive Pied.

 

I'm pretty sure thats right.......

 

it could also carry dark factor considering the cock is cobalt (single dark factor) but dark factor can be had to judge in grey greens and greys so just something to keep in mind I suppose :what:

Completely seperate genes Grey is a colour adding factor and is not in any way linked to being green/green, green/blue or blue/blue. The fact that most of your grey green to blue produce grey young indicates firstly that your grey greens (or greens in general) are split blue already, and if they produce ONLY grey young in the blue series then they are likely double factor grey greens split blue. If they produce 'mostly' grey and 'some' blue then they are single factor grey greens split blue and just 'happen' to have thrown more greys as fars as blue series chicks go.

Not necessarily, it could still be a Normal split for Recessesive Pied hen.

lindas right as hes only split albino you may still get a hen

if you want albino hens for sure you need to get a albino cock bird

When I said the chick isnt an albino, I meant no red eyes :question: Definetley black. So either way, i will only be getting a visual normal chick?

I am a little unsure, but is seems like some of the chicks quills are coming through as cinnamon. Will need to wait a couple more days for comformation...
