Posted June 26, 201014 yr I'm hoping you can all let me know what you think are the best ways to offer seed and water in my aviary. Any additional information such as why you like you set up and what has/hasn't worked for you in the past and why. Thanks so much.
June 27, 201014 yr Water hangs up at the end where the perches are Seed is on a platform and the floor
June 27, 201014 yr I found those water containers a great source of amusement for my birds, who would swim and then poo in the containers, also sit on it and poo. I replaced the water containers with the guinea pig water dispensers - the ones with the ball bearings. There are some that you do not have to remove once they are attached, just open the top and pour in new water. My seed is dispensed the same as Kaz's
June 27, 201014 yr I use steel feeders attached to the wall in each aviary and a large plastic or roast pan on the floor on a small stand in each aviary too. I use small round drinkers that you attach a soft drink bottle of any size to it . Take pics tomorrow if you want.
June 27, 201014 yr I have my seed in a normal seed dispenser, like you can see in the second aviary of Kaz's. I find this is good, but the husk needs to be blown off regularly. I have a bird-bath in my aviary, which I find is quite useful in summer where they can have baths as well, I also have a water dispenser like the seed mounted on a few bricks so the ground birds can get to it, but dirt doesnt flick up.. I also have some seed pans on the floor for quails and those ground-loving budgies.

June 28, 201014 yr I have a platform. Marigold has a slight disability with her foot, not being able to grip properly and it works best for her. I have a video on my camera somewhere, I'll find it.
June 28, 201014 yr I use premoulded self feeding hoppers hung from roof and placed on the ground (white plastic top on green plastic base). Holds enough seed to leave them for a few days without issue. Have recently installed nipple drinker watering system - fully auto with a cistern float valve arrangement so can add medication if needed into the cistern. No changing poo-ie water bowls. June 28, 201014 yr Which bit GB? The feeders or the auto drinkers? Here is a thread I put up when we installed the nipple drinker system... http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....=25037&st=0 Since then I found that we needed to catch the drips in something that the birds could not get into and we now have a really easy system of attached 1L plastic jugs with floor drain plug to catch the excess drips and keep the aviary completely dry. I will add some pics of those to the nipple drinker thread one day! Edited June 28, 201014 yr by nubbly5
