Breeding Condition

Have always wondered whether hens are capable of producing fertile eggs when their cere is not brown. Or is it that they just aren't interested?

They will produce eggs but often when out of condition and on eggs they lose interest in the eggs, lose interest in chicks, may attack their cock and get nasty and grumpy and bitey and in most cases need fosters for back ups to relieve the hen of her duties. Its just not worth the aggravation to try at this stage.

My opinion only.
