I Cannot Believe you are back Two months later STILL wanting people here to solve your problems when you didnt take any advice the first time.

Grow up !!

That said , If you are willing to LISTEN , The Aristopet Sulphadim will treat Cocci , read the directions on the bottle , From memory I think it says to put it in the water and also give a drop directly to the beak every day, every bird. Then CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN , you must Clean.

I am now going as I feel Admin comming

I HAVE been listening!! I feel so helpless as it is, and I come on this website and get criticised and made to feel extremely stupid. I have tried so many things and they aren't working, so I came on here asking for more advice. Now your all effing having a laugh at my expense. I know a lot of your advice has been 'see a vet' and I understand that!! But understand that 'I can't afford a bird vet!' I wish I could but I can't so I am getting help else where. The birds in the three big cages are warm at night, they have a tarp keeping the wind out during the day and they are out of the rain. I've just started Sulphadim yesterday (I'm using it for 5 days simply because it doesn't say how long to use it for on the bottle) and I keep the cages clean. Whenever I see a bird in any of the big cages that looks sick I take it out and keep it in a little cage, covered in towels and in the house. I will also buy some probiotic this wednesday. And on another note about the Condy's Crystals, I DID give an answer! I don't have it all sitting in bowels on the cage floors, I used it ONCE in their water trays because one of my breeders said it was good for them but in tiny amounts. I'm trying with what I have available to me with the little money I have. Some of you are so judgemental and harsh but I won't name names. Remember when you first started out with your birds!!I am almost able to get an aviary for my birds, I am hopefully getting my papa to build it soon, if he can't I'll buy one somewhere if I can find a good one. I'm trying to find a very cosy, well weather protected aviary.Anyway I think I am going to find other people to talk to from now on, I come off this website feeling more heartbroken and utterly dumb in most of your eyes (like I don't know ****)...but thankyou anyway!!! :angry:By The Way I wouldn't call the carrying on in the last few reply's advice, I'd call it being pure nasty. Your the one's who should grow up! Stop being so heartless I am only wanting what's best for my poor birds, this isn't a contest of wits!!

I know you would be upset over your birds and rightly so. But we did give yo0u good advice before too. I also understand you being upset, but we can also get upset at trying to help and not getting anywhere with the advice we give. Sometimes its like bashing your head against a brick wall.

I hope the medicines work for you and please keep them in cages with warm lamps on them. If the meds are going to work you will see a ceasing of deaths within a few days.

How many have you lost and how many do you have left ?

In case you are wondering WHY you have had the reactions you have had from us.........here is some recaps from past posts.

I'm not sure about the mice, sometimes I do leave their seed bag open, so I will now make sure its closed. ( CONTAMINATED FOOD )

One of the cages sits ontop of our closed sewage system

One cage (I'm guessing 1.5 metres tall, and .5 metres wide) has 19 birds in it ( OVERCROWDING )

My cage with 19 has a nestbox in it ( OVERCROWDING PLUS ONE NESTBOX )

my other cage (wider but shorter) has 7 in it http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/ad284/k...20birds/117.jpg

I have never quarantined my birds, whenever I get new ones I put them in ( NO QUARANTINE )

my dog sits under one of the cages ( BUDGIES STRESS WITH POTENTIAL PREDATORS )

my cat sits around the cages sometimes .....she just watches them ( BUDGIES STRESS WITH POTENTIAL PREDATORS )

if another one gets sick I am definatly getting him/her to the vet ( 21ST JUNE )

I will take a couple to the vet asap ( 21ST JUNE )

ITS BEEN A LONG TIME THROUGH ALL THIS AND STILL NO VET NO MATTER WHAT WE SAID.

TOOK YOU TWO MONTHS TO GO TO A VET AND IT WASNT AN AVIAN VET ANYWAY SO THE TREATMENT WASNT UP TO PAR

Also what are some foods, powders, treatments etc I can give them starting tomorrow that will help strengthen them and make them healthier. I really don't want to lose anymore of my babies :)

did you get them to a vet ???

Before you buy any new birds, you need to work out what it is your are doing wrong.

I currently own 27 and they are spread between two big cages which sit outside the back door under the patio

they seem to be out with no roof over them and in the weather.

Yes when I first signed up to this website they were under the patio. But I like to move them around every now and then so for about a month now they have been out in the garden right outside my bedroom window. Each cage has a roof on it.
Rain and wind rarely ever only falls or blows vertically.
KAZ Condys crystals ? WHY ?
MATT Why are you putting Condies Crystals in their water? You can easily poison your birds with this. Plain drinking water will be fine for your birds.

Look at it this way, Do you drink water every day with condies crystals in it..........

KAZ I also asked this question and got no answer.
KRISTY And on another note about the Condy's Crystals, I DID give an answer! I don't have it all sitting in bowels on the cage floors, I used it ONCE in their water trays because one of my breeders said it was good for them but in tiny amounts

The answer you gave about the condies crystals was this

That isnt condys crystals
and thats all you said.

I have had about 4 die in the last four or five months. I forgot to mention that another one of my birds died tonight :( and the one that died before that was only last week...Adults and Babies are dying.

Now I know you have reacted to what we have said in the last posts, but we gave you lots of valid advice, most of which was ignored. You said you would go to the vets and it took you two months and many losses to finally do so. You kept buying birds when you hadnt addressed the health state of the birds you had.

I have tried so many things and they aren't working
As we advised way back of things that mattered and an avian vet earlier on would have got you on the right track meds-wise ......had you acted then things would have been under control now.
Now your all effing having a laugh at my expense.
NO. NO we are not. Our primary concern is the birds and always was.
I'm trying with what I have available to me with the little money I have.
please understand that after the birds were initially sick the money that would have bought medicine or a vet appointment was used to purchase new birds at a time when you shouldnt have been bringing in new birds.

UPSHOT fo all of this is............

Good advice has always been given to you. You ignored a good bit of it. The problem is still with you because you never addressed it properly in the first place as advised.

Anyway I think I am going to find other people to talk to from now on, I come off this website feeling more heartbroken and utterly dumb in most of your eyes (like I don't know ****)...but thankyou anyway!!! ;) By The Way I wouldn't call the carrying on in the last few reply's advice, I'd call it being pure nasty. Your the one's who should grow up! Stop being so heartless I am only wanting what's best for my poor birds, this isn't a contest of wits!!

You have a kneejerk reaction to being told by some of us that you should have listened. It wouldnt matter where you go........if you dont listen to good advice then you will find the same reactions everywhere else too.

So, how about some listening and lets get these birds healthy again ??????????????????

PS dont bring in any new birds for a long time. If tempted to buy any more birds.........use the money instead to get an emergency vet fund ready or use it for medicines for a bird medicine cabinet.

Can you get them together with a warm lamp for all as well as their medicated water ?

im sorry but im not sorry for my words

i tried to give advice you have ignored my questions

and im so sick of people who own birds and do not have money for vets

yes its very expensive but hay

and giving a dose of medication for how many days you think is suited will not help

you could od them

if i was you

if your asking advice of a breeder then

go and ask it and stick to it

don't come and ask for our opinions then say were cruel and nasty

in my view

the people whom own birds yet know nothing about them and have no money to back them up if all goes pear their the cruel ones

i dont care if your 50 or 15 i would feel the same sediment towards this kind of situation

your not happy

im not happy either it goes on to often

you are not saving your birds by saving for a aviry

spend that money

or you wont need one ;)

and i was not joining in on some sort of game

my opinion is mine i feel it and right now very strongly so harsh or not

hear it

you need to take those birds to a vet soon as possible your just playing with their lives guessing

Kristy123, I knew you would be upset when I read what was written yesterday. You are dealing with people here who care passionately about the welfare of birds. To hear that more of yours are dying when it is preventable, really tears our guts out.

Use the medicine you have and if the birds stop dying, it works and you have the right solution. If it does not, go to an avian vet urgently. At the beginning, I pmed you the name of the nearest one to you and he is excellent. If you had rung and asked, you would have learned that he allows people to pay off their bills. He really cares about birds, too and will not turn one away because the owner cannot pay on the spot.

Hey. Firstly I want to apologise about everything that I've said wrong or done wrong to anyone here. I didn't think from the point of view that you people care about the birds too. I'm genuinally sorry. With the sulphadim how long should I use it for?? Sorry if someone has posted an answer to that already, if you have I don't remember and I am on a crappy phone and its difficult to go through all the pages. How do I know if the sulphadim isn't working? The birds will keep dying? Katherine is the vet you saw the brisbane bird vet at Chermside? If so that's great about paying off. Ill ring the vet tomorrow and have a chat with someone (who should I talk to). If the birds keep dying I will DEFINATLY take the next sick one to see him. My papa is able to build an aviary for me so him and my dad are working out prices but I should have enough money for the aviary and the vet!! Does the vet do payments weekly? Fortnightly? How much roughly? Haha I will ring about this but a rough plan would be nice.

Kristy123, the vet is at Chermside. You will have to talk to him or one of his staff about the details. It will not be cheap but it will be worth it. He has saved the life of two of my birds.

All the very best with getting your birds healthy. I would love to hear of them being well and of you being able to enjoy them.

Hey everyone. I went to the vet yesterday!! The Brisbane Bird Vet, and I am VERY glad I did. He was great. The sick bird I had in warm lighting died early Wednesday morning so I rang the vet and he told me to bring my dead bird in and one that's abit under the weather. He did a post mortem on the little girl (I watched, it was fasinating) and he made three smears. Then he looked at them all and two had diseases. She had canker and megabacteria (the WORST case of mb that he had ever seen). I told him the symptoms of each dying bird has been the same so he has given me medication for both diseases. Then I got told to clean and clean and clean haha. The canker meds are oral twice a day for each bird (19!!) for 10 days. And the mb is the same but for 7 days. And I got shown how to use a crop needle and I had a go. I got lots of advice, oh and I met Wally haha so adorable. All in al I was so happy I went. It was a reasonable price and the meds are for all my birds except the two in quarantine. He said I might still lose a couple of birds if the canker is very advanced because the cheese like substance in the throat takes awhile to clear, so only time will tell what happens.

That's great news Kristy, I mean about you going to the vet. Hopefully birds will pull through. Megabacteria is a secondary infection, so because they have the canker the mega would of come into play.

I am so glad you did that! All the very best for getting your budgies back to full health.

Really good news that you went to the vet, and even better that the vet seems to be someone you can have faith in. Great job staying for the autopsy. A learning experience.

Hope you birds thrive under the ongoing care and meds. Fingers crossed for them all.

Thankyou to everyone for your well wishes. I to hope my birds pull trough and are in much better health. I'm on the 4th day of medicating them and they are all going well, more perky and chirpy. Butter (the unwell girl I took to the vet) is also looking much better, she has improved well, she just needs to work on putting back on her fat haha. There is only one bird I am concerned about, a little girl called Cheeky. She still is looking under the weather although I am medicating her, maybe she was sicker then Butter I'm not sure but I'm keeping an eye on her (she is tubby aswell, no weight loss).
