Did anyone else go today?

I went to have a look as I wanted to view the Yellowface that won the Nationals. I want to breed YFs myself in future.

Nice birds, especially the YFs and the Recessive Pieds. I had my eye on a Grey/Albino, but he was a bit expensive for me....$2200!!! My taste is getting more expensive from auction to auction :D but I think that's a good sign as I look for quality now.

I think some birds sold for way too much, but I was surprised that the YF that won the Nationals only went for $3100, was sure he would go for more. I left after lot 77...no birds in my carry box.

rumor has it mr gearing was fairly interested but thats rumor

i didnt bother going as some the birds were apparently fairly average for way to much price but then i wouldn't know as haven't been around long enough to judge that myself

i was told they refussed 4 grand for bird then a offer of five for the yf so i hope the person whom was rumored to offer 4 got it for what it sold at auction :D

would saved them a tad of money if did

what was the cheapest bird their when you were their lealotta may i ask please

Hi Gb, I thought I might meet you there. I only decided to go and have a look myself last night...it was interesting to see the YF, but otherwise a waste of time...in my opinion....way too expensive. I am only a beginner, but I think, yes...many of the birds were very average. The two cheapest ones were $70 and $80. An Albino hen went for $80...but I think she had visible throat spots and average size...but hard to tell because the light in the hall was no good. Not many birds under $300.Do you think the YF that won the Nationals was a Yellowface Mutation 2 Single Factor?

The YF had some yellow suffusion througout his body thats why I thought it is YF Mutation 2 Single Factor. There is a photo of him on the Nationals website.

I thought you should only show YFs Mutation 1,

YFs Mutation 2 Double Factor or

Goldenface Double Factor

????

Thanks KAZ. I was not too sure whether it was allowed to use this photo here.

In 'real live' he looked more yellow suffused.

So what do you think guys? Yellowface, Mutation 2, Single Factor?

Yes, YF mutation 2. I'm guessing.

I have no idea. Best wait for an answer from the experts. :)

Single factor YF2

If he was a double factor he would be white faced with no yellow diffiusion. He would be a blue looking bird.

Double factor Mutation 2 are not white faced, Dave. The Yellow would be mostly restricted to his face.

I think you mean YF Mutation 1, double factors of mutation 1 look like blues without yellow.

Don't get hung-up on what mutation he is, the judge can't judge the breeding record, just the bird and in 50 years of breeding this is one of the better ones I've seen. I thought he would have made much more. cheers Clearwing

Others thought so too and because of it bid for other birds instead. Heard that from a horses mouth or two :)

That is something that happens, the buyers think the bird is going to go for to much & buy

something else, rather then miss out all together & when the bird comes up,they have already spent there money

& can not bd on the good bird & he goes at a cheaper price :P
