May 20, 201114 yr Rip i got one violet spangle non yf in the nest . My guess is skyblue violet but i have not really looked good I have read back through this thread again and I notice that you mentioned you were not sure of the fathe of some chicks produced by this hen. Now with that in mind it may be that the birds produced may not be from the same father. If the father is a DF of any yellowface he will produce 100% yellow young and similarly if he was a composite of two yellowface types only 100% yellowface young would be produced but of two different types and they would all be single factor yellowface. I reckon let them all feather up then take pics. If there is Yellowface Mutant 1 involved keep in mind that as babies in nest feather the yellow can be quite faint.
May 21, 201114 yr @ rip i was very graceful in the way i responded to k and m and i don't need to be the spot light or apple of anybody's eye on any forum nor do i feel the need to be right in everything i say or would i be so full of myself to think i was the fact she got on her high n mighty horse but was totally incorrect was to me quiet amusing as i am to lay back to be actually a fended by someones words whom i don't or will i ever know the main thing is the variety has been verified and im assuming that means the violet is too a df violet spangle ??? would that be correct or are their still questions on her variety . gb Graceful??????? really?????? well i think you know more than km if you call that graceful That's a freaking joke! You could of just said I was wrong did not have to put it as I know nothing I do NOT see suffusion a lot here, Maybe you guys in other countries do BUT here in my area NO it is NOT COMMON! its hardly ever seen Maybe we are better at breeding i don't know but I'm gone so it doesn't really matter and I've never been 100% wrong I work extremely hard to know the mutations, and the genetics and how they work If i'm not 100% sure I say so I use the words such as "think" "looks like" Etc etc etc so you all have fun and do what ever it is you do i'm sick of the degrading and rudeness Plus it takes forever to get a reply I'd hate to see when some one posts about a hurt bird and it takes them 2 weeks to get a response Gee THAT was graceful K&M So now you are having a crack at the whole forum and all it's members too? Sometimes we all disagree and some people can express that better than others - nice to live and let live sometimes, don't you think?!
May 22, 201114 yr Author I reckon let them all feather up then take pics. If there is Yellowface Mutant 1 involved keep in mind that as babies in nest feather the yellow can be quite faint. Yep will do, first bubs left the nest today, its a skyblue, possibly sky violet spangle. Def no yellow face either. The other 3 will be out over the next week I imagine, then the hen is going in a avairy with the other hens, away from the cocks! Should mention this hen appears to be the alpha hen of teh whole flock, she is small compared to the show ones but man she is a bossy boots.
June 4, 201114 yr Author okay here are the pics, not direct linking to them because they are larger then this forum allows and I want everyone to get a good look at them Check out the young here!
June 4, 201114 yr Those are some pretty babies Looks like GB was right about that being a YF pied. And those YF spangles are definitely violet, though the other one looks to be a cobalt? I just read through the whole topic....what an interesting read it was lol Edited June 4, 201114 yr by Maddy
June 4, 201114 yr yery nice spangling and yes i thought was yf pied ive breed many a golden face pied in my time i would be pretty hopeless if i could not spot on feathering up im not sure yours is golden face though just yf cobalt by looks im guessing spangle hee hee mum was the violet df spangle was she not ??? and finnie and i was right about pied father at least others well they were colony so could be anyone's lol nice job but now please cabinet breed for birds history sake if nothing else
June 4, 201114 yr Author yes mum DF spangle violet by the looks of it that blue baby may be skyviolet he is the only dom pied cock that I have, only have 2 other rec pied cocks here have got my breeding cabinets setup up, well mostly still have to finish building 2 nestboxes and I will have a total of 8 quite like those YF violet spangles, they are quite nice.. been thinking of moving on most of the pet type budgies but as yet undecided, they just look so small to me now compared to the others lol
June 4, 201114 yr if you move on your pets only do it if you are really interested in showing soon as you get show birds its very hard to move them on no one seems to want them and unless your doing good with them well they are hard to sell yet pets seem to go more than the show type mostly as the show birds are not pretty colors however that will change now you can breed agf and violet they are beautiful spangles and as far as demand violets the colour most wanted yf and spangle it's like sold before their hatched im lucky i can move my birds fairly well or dont mind holding on to them till they find homes or someone rings asking Edited June 4, 201114 yr by GenericBlue
June 4, 201114 yr Author yes they are a beautiful marked bird, Im quite partial to the violets so will keep them at this stage, I have a couple others that Im not sure about yet. actually looking at the 2 vi/yf birds, one has less head markings and different cheek patch colour, they are not exactly the same if you have a good look.
June 7, 201114 yr One of them looks to be opaline but need a picture of the wing markings for full confirmation.
