June 20, 201015 yr I will be very interested in seeing what colour that little one ends up being. Obviously blue based, due to the white feathers and cannot be grey. I am thinking sky blue dilute opaline

I am thinking sky blue dilute opaline Funny how we say white down means opaline and it is so true. However in my greywing babies of the past they also had white down and females as well and none of them were opalines.

June 20, 201015 yr You'll find that the whole of the 'Dilute'series i.e. Greywing, Clearwing and Dilute will have down which looks white but it is more of an off white. Obviously the removal of melanin extends also to the down.

June 27, 201015 yr Author Yeah, looked too bright to be a dilute to me! Such cuties Kaz! And violet too. I am still trying to figure out how violet came into it. But that dilute hen produced a mauve baby once with a light green dom pied father.
June 27, 201015 yr Very cute. I think the violet greywing has now overtaken the sky blue greywing as my favourite greywing.

June 27, 201015 yr Author Wow that colour is gorgeous! Sneaky little violet factor........ from Daddy perhaps? He appears light green and she has produced a mauve with a pied cock before so I thought it must come from her
