Greywing To Dilute Pairing

Featured Replies

Posted

I have another pair in a nestbox....they chose themselves in the aviary and had paired up for weeks in the aviary, so I let them go into a breeding cabinet. Why ? Because the last two times I tried that hen she laid her eggs and then sat back and looked at them and didnt incubate. So I thought if she had chosen this cock in the aviary and was dead keen she may actually produce this time.

She is a dilute dominant pied hen I call Beanbag DSCF9695.jpg

and he is a green greywing cock

so, I virtually ignored the nestbox thinking she wouldnt produce any babies again, but when I checked yesterday she had three chicks and seems more eggs are fertile

Based on the fact she is a dominant pied dilute and split blue and he is an green greywing what are they likely to produce ?

They will be all grey wing but as for pied I have no idea. all I know is for some reason dilute is dom to greywing and clearwing. So meaning if you put a dilute with a greywing or clearwing you will get all greywing or all clearwing.

i agree with what Splat says above. the Dommie pied part fo the deal is a 50:50 ratio of getting pied chicks.

As for colour, is the cock split for blue? If so, then blue greywings, or blue greywing dommie pieds are possible, if not, they will all be green.

All should be split dilute as well.

Agree with most everyone.

If he is greywing/greywing you will get all greywing/dilutes (visual greywings). If he is greywing/dilute you will get 50% greywing/dilute (visual greywing) and 50% dilute/dilute (dilutes obviously).

Dommy is 50:50 as said above. Same for who of the chicks is split blue, 50:50 but you'll never know unless or until you pair them with blues later on. If the dad is split blue you'll get 25% blue (1 in 4 chicks), 50% green/blue and 25% green/green.

Eldest chick is showing as dom pied so far. Another chick hatched and is way smaller than the others. Four chicks in the nest.

I am guessing there is no showing of a dom pied greywing. Not sure what it would even fit into, class wise.

AOSV perhaps :P

great pics

I love the name Bean Bag - did she have this before or have you only named her recently?

She has had this name for a long time. thus named because in the nest you can do anything with her...pick her up anbd move her and she just flops and is like handling a beanbag
