Posted May 24, 201014 yr Hey all! Recently I discovered that one of my budgies is experiancing feather loss, this is very unusual as he has never had anything like this before. At the moment most of my birds are moulting, therefore they are all looking abit scruffy. But this one seemed to have lost more than the others! there is a bald patch by his feet and underneath his beak. I was wondering weather this could be mites. Im worried that if it is mites it could spread to the whole flock. :S Please could you give me some advice on this matter! It would be a great help!! Thanks :ohmygod: Toffeefluff
May 24, 201014 yr It is impossible for us to know without either seeing the bird in person, or minimum a picture. Do you have any ivermectin? One drop of this on the back of the head should kill any mites. If you do not, go and see a vet. They can give you some ivermectin for this, and apply a drop whilst you are there.
May 24, 201014 yr We have heas of mite topics on here and using the search function or checking the faq section will find them for you. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....l=feather+mites the thing is there are several kinds of mites. most common being feather mites. Then there are scalyface mites and then red mites. Different mites and varying treatments. Read up to identify yours or take the bird to the vet.
